The Industrial Engineer uses data gathering, reporting and analysis techniques to support the ongoing and continuous improvement of our facilities. In addition this role will evaluate core Labor Management processes, times studies and elemental determinations within the facility and provide data analysis for new implementations to improve the internal and external customer experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating core processes/ technologies and integrating them in a unique and creative way that helps solve a business problem and improve the customer and associate experience.

  • Designs and conducts time studies and devises standard work routines and measurable productivity expectations; collaborate and communicate best practices with business leads and functional process improvement leads.

  • Improve key fulfillment metrics across the supply chain network related to speed, efficiency, throughput and cost.

  • Make strategy recommendations that impact operations and process/systems engineering teams regarding key performance indicators and service level goals.

  • Perform data analysis to establish site floor metrics and solve complex problems; identify opportunities to optimize storage and processing capacity (picking locations, storage rack and material handling equipment).

  • Partner with site Director to identify facility design requirements based on activity levels, product profiles, flow, and transportation methods; assess time estimates to develop, purchase, document, implement, and install existing and new processes

  • Conduct time studies of Labor Management; track and monitor effectiveness of management schedules/ employee schedules through metrics; recommend and implement changes as needed to ensure business objectives are met.

  • Develop and maintain work standards and characteristics that promote efficient staff and facility utilization.

  • Lead the technical assessment of potential suppliers and assist with the selection, use and application of processes within the extended e-commerce fulfillment network.

  • Establish solutions that support the vision for the implementation of cutting edge solutions that enable the Cost Plus World Market e-commerce fulfillment network to meet or exceed corporate goals.

  • Collaborate with cross functional partners to identify necessary systems, network, electrical, pneumatic and control design requirements and coordinate the successful execution of necessary activities.

  • Support continuous improvement by actively adhering to lean principles, design of experiments (ex: Six Sigma)

  • Create, modify and enhance CAD drawings to make recommendations for existing and new facilities related on improvement opportunities identified.

This person will serve onsite as the Facilities Maintenance Manager and oversee a team of exempt and non-exempt industrial maintenance professionals in executing a preventative maintenance program designed to optimize up-time and foster a culture of safety. General Summary: The Facility Maintenance Manager at Dollar Tree directs, plans, and supervises maintenance personnel, as well as facilities maintenance including: buildings, grounds, and all support equipment, including automated systems such as: conveyors, merges, and sorters in a high-volume, fully-automated, multi-shift retail distribution center. Oversees all maintenance contracts and contractors to insure quality work on a timely basis. Ensures that all responsibilities of associates and contractors are carried out in compliance with applicable regulations and procedures and all work remains within budgetary guidelines. What you'll be doing (Essential Job Functions): * Manage and oversee the repair and maintenance of equipment; assign work orders, ensure safety and production related work orders are highest priority. Assist maintenance associates with diagnosis and repairs when necessary. * Manage preventive maintenance programs and ensures schedule is adhered to in order to minimize down time. * Review, recommend and implement additions, modifications and improvements to facility systems. * Recommend and requisition all materials and supplies necessary to perform equipment and building maintenance * Responsible for all contract maintenance including quotes, contracts, and job completion to specifications. * Responsible for all inspections and licenses necessary for facility to function. * Manage the development, implementation and administration of operational policies, programs, and systems within functional area. Establish methods and procedures for departmental work activities; identify and resolve mechanical problems; and communicate expertise and approvals concerning departmental activities. * Oversee and ensure building, grounds and equipment are clean and well maintained. Manage and oversee the facility's waste disposal program; ensure waste is disposed of according to appropriate regulations. * Interact with facility management to ensure maintenance needs are met. Tour facility to ensure the condition of the facility is maintained. * Hire, orient, train, evaluate and develop associates. In conjunction with the Assistant General Manager and the Human Resources Manager, carry out disciplinary actions and/or recommend termination of employment as appropriate. * Share and provide appropriate information and anticipate information needs of associates.
