CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.

  • The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

  • As a CANDIDATE, you may be required to provide documentation (i.e. High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • If a candidate does not possess the required Security Plus Certification and is offered the position: Candidate will be granted employment under a "training status" with a six (6) month time frame to complete the above mentioned Certification. A 10% salary decrease will apply until license is completed and received by the DMA State Human Resources Office. Failing to complete Security Plus Certification within the allotted timeframe, shall result in termination.

  • An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university with a course of study in a field related to computer or information science, two (2) years of professional experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming or related field AND CompTIA Security+ Certification; OR

  • Four (4) years of professional experience in computer systems analysis, computer programming or related field AND CompTIA Security+ Certification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzes and resolves hardware, software, and communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes. The employee analyzes and resolves technical problems with less than 5% customer follow-up for same issue.

  • Coordinates and ensures the standard implementation of policies, procedures, and systems operations with local computer support personnel.

  • Conducts research and development in distributed processing and information system technologies to support the planning and enhancement of distributed computer systems network including hardware software and communications resources.

  • Interfaces with the agencies distributed systems support group to ensure the distributed processing plan is consistent with the agency objectives, and is compatible with existing applications and security requirements.

  • Establishes methods and procedures for use of the distributed computer systems including hardware, software, communications, and end user training.

  • Writes and/or maintains up-to-date documentation for network software and operational procedures.

  • Coordinates with agency management for the acquisition of and contracting for hardware, software, and services (including maintenance).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of distributed processing operations, procedures, and equipment.

  • Knowledge of problem solving techniques.

  • Knowledge of computers and software.

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and/or computer systems analysis.

  • Ability to write, code, test and debug computer programs.

  • Ability to process information logically and solve problems.

  • Ability to develop training programs related to distributed processing operations and procedures.

  • Ability to monitor and resolve problems with distributed systems components.

  • Ability to identify and define user task needs.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
