This position is located in Tallahassee

The Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) is a customer-oriented agency responsible for managing the various business and workforce-related functions of state government. Under the direction of Governor Ron DeSantis and DMS' Executive Leadership Team, the agency oversees the real estate, procurement, human resources, group insurance, retirement, technology, telecommunications, private prisons, fleet, and federal property assistance programs utilized throughout Florida's state government. DMS is relied upon to establish, maintain and improve the business processes used by state employees to create a better, not bigger government. DMS facilitates the delivery of these programs and services and provides tools and training to bolster the efficiency and effectiveness of the state's workforce. It is against this backdrop that DMS strives to demonstrate its mission, "We serve those who serve Florida." Under the leadership of DMS Secretary Jonathan Satter, DMS' employees embody four pillars on a daily basis: lead by example, serve with excellence, create efficiencies, and challenge the status quo.

Upon taking office, Governor Ron DeSantis immediately called for Florida's Health and Human Services (HHS) agencies to better collaborate when developing future technology systems to improve efficiency and deliver better outcomes for Floridians. He directed the Florida Department of Management Services, the primary shared services provider for Florida Government, to work alongside HHS agencies in developing strategies to support data interoperability and service transformation. Following initial feedback from this workgroup, coupled with the reality that aging technology makes interaction with government frustrating, the Administration partnered with the Florida Legislature to create the Florida Digital Service or FL [DS] to leverage data and deploy technologies to better serve Floridians.

The Florida Digital Service or FL [DS] was established in 2020 with a mission of delivering better government services and transparency to Floridians through design and technology. Modeled in part after the United States Digital Service, FL [DS] is working to recruit top tech talent to transform state government digital services. By partnering with state agencies, FL [DS] aims to create a collaborative environment that fosters innovation. FL [DS] has several key objectives that may assist applicants in determining if a position within FL [DS] may be a good fit including completing Florida's first data catalog and dictionary, transforming aging systems using agile methodologies, and strengthening Florida's cyber hygiene.
