The Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) Disruptive Computing & Networking (DC&N) software capability is seeking a Software Engineering Manager in El Segundo, California, Annapolis Junction, Maryland, or Fairfax, Virginia.

The position will involve leading a very talented software team developing software for world class, next generation disruptive systems and technologies. The selected candidate will work with the Disruptive Computing & Networks (DC&N) product team focused on the concept, requirements, architecture, design and development of a future system. The selected candidate will lead, develop, and motivate a talented, distributed team. People development is a key element of this job - the candidate will be responsible for staffing growth, for nurturing employees and for providing employees with development opportunities. He or she will also be executing and enforcing SW standard practices in accordance with the SW enterprise organization. The candidate will also be responsible for developing and executing integrated tech plans, policies and procedures, strong operational skills are a plus.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse software team performing engineering and technical activities for embedded/real-time and non-real time applications

  • Proactively manage software staffing needs; create a healthy talent and skill pipeline to meet project resource timelines

  • Talent management, skill and career development of ~20 software engineers; tracking and coordination of employee development plans

  • Provide SW employees career coaching, technical mentoring and training

  • Assist the software engineering organization with implementing best practices and lessons learned on projects

  • Provide execution oversight of software development efforts for designated projects/programs/initiatives to ensure technical integrity and engineering excellence

  • Work and collaborate with other technology domain leaders to build value, innovation, and to optimize resources.

  • Responsible for the technical integrity of software developed on projects and programs

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret / SCI with Poly Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position requires the ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 7+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time embedded or non-real time system

  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C, C++, and MATLAB

  • Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)

  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing projects and/or teams.

  • 3+ years of experience with Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real time system

  • Previous technical management experience

  • Strong communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal, management/business skills

  • Experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Gitlab, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory, etc.).

  • Experience with deploying common simulation framework

  • Experience designing, developing, and implementing automated test frameworks for real time and non-real time systems

  • Active Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance with Poly

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: 141,950 - 192,050
