ImprimisRxs 503B outsourcing facility produces formulations for office use in accordance with current good manufacturing practices (cGMP), the highest federal quality standards for drug manufacturers in the country. Its 503A pharmacy produces customizable, patient-specific formulations pursuant to a physician prescription for several chronic care needs. There have been over one million eyes served by the formulations produced at these facilities

Job Summary

Dispensing Technicians assist in the overall pharmacy operations under the guidance of the Pharmacists-In-Charge. This position will work with a team of dedicated staff who compound and dispense prescribed medications in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the dispensing of prescriptions

  • Create and maintain reports of prescriptions

  • Conduct routine medication inventories including monitoring for drug expirations dates and assist with inventory control of medications

  • Assist in ordering supplies and medications

  • Maintain any necessary QA logs, including but not limited to, cleaning, temperature, waste and expired and destroyed medications

  • Comply with the pharmacy incident reporting policy

  • Assist in compounding preparations and dispensing prescription medication in compliance with state and federal laws, as well as the pharmacys standard operation procedures

  • Check all orders received in the system and ensure orders are processed timely and accurately

  • Understand the Pharmaceutical Industrys code of Practice

  • Comply with all state-specific legislations and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and attending all pharmacy-mandated training

  • Clean and maintain equipment and work areas

  • Establish and maintain strong, positive, productive relationships with customer accounts including physicians, office managers, technicians, purchasing agents and/or allied health staff

  • Excellent organization and time-management skills required. Must be able to manage heavy workload and aggressive timelines in a timely manner, prioritize and work under pressure

  • Assist in collecting information of Quality related events and organize for quarterly meetings

  • Maintain data for production, review internal policies, assist with vendor approval.

  • Perform duties in accordance with established company procedures and policies

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • May pull prescription bottles from shelves and count specified number of units for individual prescriptions

  • Ensure that all patients have been given the written prescription information and the opportunity for verbal counseling at the time the refill prescriptions are picked up. If it is a new prescription, the technician must retrieve the pharmacist and only the pharmacist may offer verbal counseling or hear the refusal for verbal counseling on new prescriptions.

  • Be trained in the use of equipment and products used in the compounding or prescription medications.

  • Perform routine inspections on prescription and non-prescription products to ensure their integrity.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work and education in a related field, required

  • 2 years of experience working as a Compounding Pharmacy Technician

  • Pharmacy Technician License

  • Working knowledge of all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations regarding pharmaceuticals

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating excellent time management and organization skills

  • Proficient in the use of standard Microsoft Office software products, including Excel, Outlook, Word

  • Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to prioritize

  • Works with a sense of urgency, while engaging and listening to experts

  • Must be able to stand the entire shift with the exception of meal and rest periods.

  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds and carry the weight for 50 feet.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The ability to see distinctions in colors and shapes is also required. This position is moderately active and requires standing and walking for the duration of the shift. There is a high frequency of reaching over your head and bending down throughout the duration of each shift.

This job operates in a health care setting. This position requires frequent standing and walking to storage shelves and filling counters to fill prescriptions. While performing the duties of this role, the employee will be exposed to light, noise.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

It is a full-time position in a compounding pharmacy with regular operations occurring between M-F between the hours of 9-5 pm. Working hours may vary anywhere from several hours before opening to several hours after closing. Additionally, weekend hours may be needed depending upon workload demands. Rotating shifts, as well as holiday and work during inclement weather, may be required.

No travel is expected for this position.
