SUMMARY:

Answers and receives calls for General Public Transportation services schedules and/or dispatches rides. Maintains and updates the computerized daily schedule for dispatching and routing transportation services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Dispatches for the General Public Transportation services.

  • Weekly deposit

  • Knowledge of Reservation geographic layout and the surrounding area within a 60-mile radius.

  • Schedules rides by evaluating routes to ensure on-time services are met.

  • Communicates in a timely manner by dispatching scheduling issues to the drivers.

  • Responds to requests for services and provides a variety of information regarding the General Public Transportation services to passengers and the general public in a courteous manner.

  • Effectively handles difficult and sensitive general public inquiries and complaints and notifies supervisor of situations requiring assistance.

  • Maintain accurate records, logs and files on transportation services.

  • Contributes data for quarterly reports.

  • Assists with clerical and general office duties, including answering a multi-line phone, checking voicemail messages, data entry, typing duties, etc.

  • Must be able to fill in as a back-up driver.

  • Complies with all traffic regulations and laws.

  • Reads, remembers and enforces Kansas Department of Transportation regulations.

  • Attends required training as needed.

  • Works cooperatively within the office, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, and other agencies; as needed.

  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have High School Diploma or GED

  • One to Three years of experience in customer service and data entry

  • Must be able to type at least 30 words per minute.

  • Must possess strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Must be patient with all passengers.

  • Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance.

  • Must possess professional work ethics, manner and appearance.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation

  • Must possess ability to communicate professionally in person, over the phone and in writing, in a service-orientated approach, sometimes in stressful circumstances.

  • Must possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines with very little supervision.

  • Must be available to work the assigned schedule of M-F, 8:00A-4:30P and available as needed to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the position, which may include nights, weekends, holiday and overtime.

  • Must be reliable, punctual and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

  • A record of satisfactory attendance and performance in all prior and current employment as evidence by positive employment references from current/previous employers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three to Five years of experience in customer service and data entry.

  • Previous experience in dispatching and scheduling.

  • Current First Aid & CPR certifications

  • Must meet all K-Dot & FTA requirements

  • Knowledge and abilities to operate wheelchair lifts and locks.

  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with others, including members of the public

  • Ability to maintain high level of privacy and confidentiality of individuals and families

  • Ability to operate general office equipment, including but not limited to: 10-key calculator, telephone, computer and operating systems, computer software programs (Microsoft Office programs), fax/copier machine

  • Able to read, write and speak English

  • Ability to work efficiently in a highly team-team oriented environment

  • Ability to work in a high-stress, deadline oriented environment

  • Attend out-of-state/out-of-town training periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift 20 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday

Provide adolescents in foster care, adolescents who were previously in foster care after age 16 or adolescents who need assistance preparing for independent adult life with a 52-week curriculum intended to enable youth to find housing, employment, achieve positive social relationships, perform daily living activities and live independently. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: * Assist adolescents who remain in foster care until 18 years of age transition to self-sufficiency, adolescents who were previously in foster care after age 16 or adolescents who need assistance preparing for independent adult life. * Provide support and guidance to participants with the goal of leading them to self-sufficiency and leading a productive and meaningful life. * Provide advocacy, skills training, information and referral, career exploration, vocational training, job placement and retention, substance abuse prevention and preventive health activities through a 52-week curriculum. * Provide financial, housing, counseling, employment, education and other appropriate support and services to former foster care recipients between 18 and 23 years of age to complement their own efforts to achieve self-sufficiency and to assure that program participants recognize and accept their personal responsibility for preparing for and then making the transition from adolescence to adulthood. * Prepare, update and review independent living plan. * Deliver support to assist and encourage independent living clients to achieve the goals set out in their plan. * Make referrals where a need is identified for more detailed assistance. * Maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to the provision of support following each contact. * Develops knowledge of community resources, including colleges and network assistance, and mentors to assist participants. * Ensure participants have applied for all benefits available to them. * Works with schools to promote movement of students from school to vocational training, continuing employment or adult education opportunities. * Must develop * Conduct home visits or facilitates visits/attendance to schools, camps or any other enriching activities geared towards self-sufficiency. * Participates in training and professional development activities. * Transports Youth clients to appointments pertaining to their individual plans of employment, training, and education. * Maintains monthly contact with youth and documents all contacts. * Schedule and transport clients to appointments.
