Job Description

This position requires working the following shifts:

  • Tuesday
  • Saturday 8:30 am

  • 5:00 pm

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the coordination, movement, and delivery of freight for our customer base. It also requires customer interaction and problem resolution.

Principal Duties:

  • The timely dispatch of drayman for retail shipments, US Mail shipments, Nor'Easter adn other products offered by TDIS and NS.

  • On-time pick up and delivery of loads.

  • Route and match loads in a cost-effective manner through extensive communication with other dispatchers in the department and the assignment of drayman.

  • Proactively identify potential failures and attempt to fix. If the failure can't be avoided, advise the customer.

  • Notify customer of any accessorials including comchecks, stop off, lumper or any other charges.

  • Notify customer of any freight issues.

  • Verify and approve requests from drayman for accessorial charges.

  • Book loads from computerized transfer of data, faxed purchase orders, and telecom request.

  • Run and analyze various reports from internal and external computer systems

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION PECO Application Support is responsible for providing the first level of business support for major applications (GIS, Asset Suite, Mobile Dispatch, ARCOS, Hyperion Interactive Reporting, Oracle Business Intelligence etc.) used by PECO applications. This position provides application subject matter expertise in support of data mining, application related business processes, and application related initiatives including effective system upgrades. Role is considered to be the Career Level. Perform detailed analysis and prepare comprehensive reports to support business operations. Conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other operational analysis. Monitor and coordinate activities to support operational performance (e. g. , safety, reliability, service level, productivity, etc. ). Track, maintain, analyze and provide current information on the operations business scorecard or key performance indicators (KPIs). Develop, organize and present performance reports for both internal and external use. Develop and conduct short-term and long-range business planning. May develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e.g., business plan or process improvement initiatives). Provide broad analytical and operational support to the business unit. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES * Develop and conduct short-term and long-range business planning. Conduct complex modeling, forecasting, trending, variance analysis, business case development, and other financial and operational analysis (e. g. , operational effectiveness, budget, resource, workload, workforce and capacity utilization, competitor, etc.). * Provide statistical information to ensure the most effective utilization of personnel, equipment and/or materials for business operations. * Monitor and coordinate activities to manage operational performance (e. g. , safety, reliability, service level, productivity, etc. ) and make recommendations for improvement. * Track, maintain, analyze and provide current information on the operations business scorecard or key performance indicators (KPIs). * Perform analysis of the operations cost elements to ensure effective and efficient operations. * Prepare and analyze comprehensive and detailed reports. * Develop, organize and present detailed performance reports for both internal and external use. * May develop, implement, evaluate or lead projects or initiatives (e. g. , business plan or process improvement initiatives). * Provide broad analytical and operational support to the business unit. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Minimum: * Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS, GIS, Business or Engineering AND 5-8 years related business experience, or in lieu of Bachelors degree, a minimum of 9-12 years relevant business experience is required. * Comprehensive understanding of applicable standards, methods, processes and practices, business fundamentals, and performance metrics in the specific functional area supported by this position (e. g. , asset management, electric or gas operations, customer service, transmission and substation, distribution system operations, regulatory and external affairs, transmission operations and planning). * Advanced proficiency in standard software applications (e. g. , Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), specialized business technologies and applications (e. g. , workforce management, outage management, mobile dispatch) to retrieve and analyze data in support of business needs. * Demonstrated strong analytical skills for project evaluation including analysis of complex projects with economic, financial, risk and decision analysis. Proficient in business case development and ability to effectively present business cases to business unit leadership. * Customer driven with good oral and written communications skills and strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills. * Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of performance analysis (trending, root cause and gap analysis) benchmarking and audit compliance. Ability to analyze organizational data and complex problems, interpret and recommend alternative courses of action, and implement intervention strategies to attain performance targets.
