Hennepin County is seeking a Senior Department Administrator for our Disparity Reduction line of business to lead, guide, and coordinate internal departments across the County to support disparity reduction efforts and the seven domains of housing, health, education, employment, income, justice, and connectivity, as part of the County's disparity reduction priority. This position will provide strategic guidance and maintain relationships internally and externally and is a key leader within the Disparity Reduction line of business.

Location and hours:

This position is hybrid and will be performed primarily at the Hennepin County Government Center building in downtown Minneapolis at 300 South 6th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55487, at various community locations and Hennepin County buildings, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will primarily be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evening work hours will be required. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will:

  • Partner with department directors across the County to facilitate, set strategy and identify opportunities to further goals/results within the seven domains.

  • Provide guidance for large, cross-functional projects and initiatives countywide as it relates to disparity reduction as a priority. Ensure the application of a disparity reduction and equity lens is embedded in projects and initiatives.

  • Ensure the connection and inclusion of support services such as engagement, data analytics, etc. are part of projects and initiatives, as needed.

  • Work closely with the Chief Data Officer and the Disparity Reduction Head of Analytics to further County analytics strategy and approach focused on data collection, analysis and information of strategies

  • Provide support and guidance to domain leads, data analysts and leaders on their domain goals, objectives and strategies.

  • Administer and lead specific services and initiatives in the Disparity Reduction line of business as needed.

  • Work in partnership with Communications and domain leads to ensure proactive storytelling of disparity reduction efforts and strategies.

  • Provide project management and strategic planning functions for key projects for the ACA as it relates to the disparity reduction domains.

  • Facilitate and convene the Disparity Reduction Governance Board and the Domain Leads bi-monthly meetings. Ensure alignment with domain strategies.

Need to have:

  • One of the following:

  • Ten years or more of program administration experience in government, nonprofit, education, or an organization closely related to government.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, social work, public administration, education, or other field appropriate to the position and six years or more of program administration experience in government, nonprofit, education, or an organization closely related to government.

Knowledge of and ability to successfully apply Diversity, Equity and Inclusion best practices in efforts to reduce racial and other disparities.Ability to:

  • Understand the connection/intersection between community engagement and county services.

  • Foster an environment that recognizes and respects cultural, lifestyle, and socioeconomic differences and provides culturally appropriate services.

  • Acquire and carry out complex administration and program concepts.

  • Work with elected officials, administrators, and policy makers with disparate viewpoints.

The mission of the Disparity Reduction line of business is to co-create equitable and innovative solutions to eliminate disparities and advance racial equity across Hennepin County.
