The Dishwashing Lead Steward ensures the efficient and sanitary operation of the dishwashing area, maintaining cleanliness, order, and safety in accordance with established standards.

This role also includes assisting in training and developing dishwashing team members and providing support to other kitchen staff.Job DescriptionEssential Functions: Leadership: Lead and direct the dishwashing team during meetings, special events, and regular shifts, assigning tasks and ensuring efficient workflow. Assist in the training and development of new dishwashing team members, providing guidance on proper procedures and techniques.

Motivate and encourage the team to maintain high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. Communicate effectively with team members, kitchen staff, and management. Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise within the dishwashing team.

Dishwashing Operations: Operate and maintain dishwashing machines and related equipment, ensuring proper functioning and reporting any malfunctions. Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment according to established procedures.

Ensure all items are properly cleaned, dried, and stored. Maintain a clean and organized dishwashing area, including floors, walls, and work surfaces. Empty and clean trash and recycling receptacles regularly.

Maintain Inventories to an established par level. Adhere to all sanitation and safety guidelines, including proper use of chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure compliance with health department regulations. Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the supervisor.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: High school graduate plus two years related hospitality experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service skills.

Ability to make decisions and exercise independent judgment. Ability to work any assigned shift/work schedule. Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures.

Ability to organize priorities. Ability to organize space and equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and the Internet. Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to work as a team leader, team member, and independently.

Physical Requirements: Heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, and hearing. Required to have visual acuity to perform an activity where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach. Environmental Conditions:
