Job Description:

Provide vital support to the Food Service Department by maintaining the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment, china, glassware, flatware and back-of-house work area.

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to speak and understand the English language in order to make self understood in fact to fact interactions with residents and staff. Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions.

  • Experience

  • Prior experience in janitorial responsibilities desired.

  • General small kitchen equipment: dishwasher, cleaning equipment

  • Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Environmental and Working Conditions:

Ability to push/pull cleaning equipment weighing between 15-20 lbs.

Ability to push/pull light furniture weighing up to 20 lbs.

Ability to lift full garbage pail weighing up to 50 lbs.to throw contents in dumpster.

Ability to withstand an excessive amount of lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, bending etc. which requires action of muscles or groups of muscles for up to 8 hours.

Ability to bend, squat, stoop to floor level for up to 8 hours each day.

Ability to perform tasks which require foot and/or hand-eye coordination and hand and wrist motion while using the cleaning equipment.

Exposure to infectious wastes, toxic chemicals and body fluids

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates, promotes and integrates the mission of The McAuley and the core values of Mercy Community Health in daily work activities.

Break down boxes and place in proper recycling container. Empty garbage bins and bring back to kitchen.

Responsible for pot washing, washing and sanitizing of slicer, soup kettles, braising pan and steamer.

Wash and sanitize table tops and sinks.

Check if any other equipment needs cleaning. Sweep and mop the following areas:

  • Walk-ins

  • Kitchen floor including Chef s office

  • Coffee Shop

  • Employee Dining Room

Sweep main kitchen floor.

Remove ice and wash server area. Wipe walk-in doors.

Perform other related duties as determined by Executive Chef.

Follows all safety, security, infection control (including Category I Universal Precautions) and hazardous materials policies and procedures; performs all tasks to assure resident and personal safety and the protection of co-workers and (facility) property.

Customer satisfaction and a focus on quality improvement are evident in all aspects of work. Promotes and supports the philosophy, goals and objectives of the department. Dedicated to providing services, which anticipate and exceed resident and family needs.

Maintains high standards of business and ethical conduct in accordance with applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations including fraud, waste and abuse. Avoids activities, which could result in a conflict of interest.

Promotes a productive atmosphere, facilitates teamwork and treats fellow employees, residents and families with respect and consideration, is helpful, cooperative and courteous. Carries out the spirit and intent of equal employment opportunity.

Attend at least two (2) General Staff Meetings, four (4) Department Staff Meetings and six (6) Educational Programs.

Arrives in a punctual manner for all shifts. Provides notification for unscheduled absences and tardiness. Requests scheduled time off in compliance with policy. Does not exceed company attendance policy.
