Responsibilities

About The Role:

The Disaster Recovery Architect leads all technology efforts related to recovery solutions and testing for the Disaster Recovery program including defining gaps, working with infrastructure and application partners to validate requirements and define solutions that meet expected RTO/RPO, assisting in technical implementations and managing all phases of the testing lifecycle to validate recoverability.This role will partner with infrastructure, architecture, and application partners to co-create technical Disaster Recovery strategies with a focus on-premises applications and cloud recovery technologies and evolution to cloud based workloads. Ensures procedures are kept in alignment with Corporate, Industry, and Regulatory Standards and best practice

  • Partner with Technical Domain Architects to design, deploy, and manage Disaster Recovery infrastructure components, leveraging site recovery technologies within all GMF managed/owned sites as well as other 3rd party entities/location deemed business critical. This includes on-prem and off-prem sites, IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, Operations Centers, branches, call and service centers.

  • Assist in technical implementations of disaster recovery solutions including technology upgrades, migrations, new deployments, and exploratory initiatives.

  • Support testing and simulations to validate the effectiveness of disaster recovery plans.

  • Create and maintain centralized operational runbook that is consistent with disaster recovery and crisis management service framework with emphasis in industry standard best practices.

  • Evaluate and recommend modern DR technologies and best practices.

  • Lead and conduct periodic reviews to validate or update design to meet application SLAs consistent with RPO/RTO requirements.

  • Ensure BIA (business impact analysis) is aligned and consistent with DR Recovery Plan.

  • Trusted advisor that is knowledgeable in risk and security management practices, creative solutions, and suitable business judgement in delivering

  • business solutions; ensures adherence to regulatory standards as well as compliance and confidentiality policies.

  • Maintain industry, technology, and market trends to stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in infrastructure and resiliency engineering and disaster recovery.

  • Evaluate as needed IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors, 3rd party partners, and other entities deemed by GMF as having a business relationship with.

Qualifications

What Makes You A Dream Candidate?

  • Vendor management experience preferred.

  • Experience with testing/execution of DR plans utilizing outsourced/managed service provider staff.

  • Experience with designing and implementing automated technical recovery processes.

  • Professional certification in BCP/DRP - ABCP or AMBCI.

  • Microsoft Azure certifications

  • In-depth knowledge of the technologies they have supported and a proven willingness to stay knowledgeable about and introduce modern technologies that would enhance our businesses.

  • Ability to build strong insightful relationships quickly; must have top-notch communication skills (oral and written); must be able to network effectively at all levels but especially at the executive and business partner level.

  • Strategic and insightful in their thinking, with good judgment, and an intuitive sense of where to look for opportunities to support the business from a technological standpoint.

  • Proven aptitude to build relationships, engage and influence others, work with a diverse environment.

  • Strong initiative, with the ability to work in an ambiguous environment with little supervision or guidance. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities with strict deadlines.

  • Flexible and adaptable to change.Demonstrated experience in supporting or leading the development and implementation of Disaster Recovery programs, implementing policy and/or governance programs preferred

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in cloud-based recovery technologies, e.g., Azure Site Recovery testing and support preferred

  • Experience support and integration of on-premises and cloud disaster recovery environments preferred

  • Experience with designing, planning, and implementing full scale data center failovers preferred

Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience preferred

  • 3-5 years proven Infrastructure Architecture experience across multiple domains; experience in dealing with multiple business units and diverse employee population; experience with project management best practices such as PMI, Waterfall, Lean, Six Sigma and Agile required

  • 3-5 years work experience in IT required
