Job Title: Academic Resource Assistant - Disability Student Services

Hours: 20 hours per week with some nights and weekends. Reeg Academic Resource Center hours range from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the week, with varying weekend hours.

Purpose of Job: The Disability Student Services Assistant is a member of the disability services team in the Reeg Academic Resource Center. This position supports the Academic ADA Coordinator and the Student Access Coordinator to support the needs of the department and serve students the ensure equal access to all campus activities. The Disability Student Services (DSS) Assistant works with the coordinators to support access to course materials, create alternate format materials on demand, and assist prospective students with information during visits.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide confidential support for Disability Student Services including responding to email messages, preparing weekly, monthly, and yearly reports,

  • Convert educational materials to assessable documents

  • Maintain the Disability Student Services student database and generate reports

  • Monitor progress of students on Academic Counseling caseload

  • Analyze, prepare, and present information pertaining to Disability Student Services with the purpose to educate campus partners, students, faculty, and visitors

  • Collaborate with campus partners on campus wide events, trainings, etc.

  • Assist ADA Coordinator and Student Access Coordinator with effectively communicating with other units, departments, and outside agencies to assist students with obtaining appropriate accommodations, i.e., Sign language interpreters and campus facilities, and other disability support services

  • Assist Academic ADA Coordinator and Student Access Coordinator with projects, events, and research

  • Conduct learning support research and create resources for students, faculty, staff, and families

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing Reeg ARC academic events throughout the year

  • Clerical tasks: emailing, filing, making copies, sending faxes, and other tasks as needed

  • Attend all mandatory training sessions and complete all employee paperwork, payroll tracking and approval, etc., by designated deadlines

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned degree of bachelor's or higher

  • Detail oriented with effective problem-solving skills

  • Experience with assistive technology or learning new software systems

  • Knowledgeable of various computer programs and office technology

  • Great people and communication skills

  • Highly dependable, punctual, and reliable

  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team

  • Keen awareness of confidentiality regarding student records

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference may be given to individuals with background in higher education, disability services, or IT, with direct service experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of disability services in post-secondary environment

  • Proficient in a second language

Physical Demands:

  • Within the general range of an office environment

Pay Rate:

$19.00 / Hour
