As a part-time Marketing and/or Community Outreach staff member, you will play a pivotal role in connecting our Disability Services Team with the communities we serve. You will engage with residents, community leaders, and organizations to promote awareness of our programs and services. Your efforts will directly contribute to our mission of providing people with disabilities with recreational opportunities of their choice.

Outreach candidates must be willing to participate in program activities, and community outreach events, and effectively communicate with the public, supervisors, and staff.

All candidates will be assigned tasks based on their unique skills, abilities, and work interests.

The position's base office is in Greenbelt, MD. Outreach opportunities are located throughout Prince George's County.

Salary starts at $20 depending on experience and certification.

Examples of Important Duties

Outreach Position Responsibilities:

  • Actively engage with community members to promote awareness of our organization's mission, programs, and events.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local community groups, schools, businesses, and other relevant stakeholders.

  • Coordinate and assist with community events, workshops, and outreach activities.

  • Distribute promotional materials and informational resources within the community.

  • Collect feedback and insights from community members to inform our programming, services, and outreach strategies.

  • Collaborate with team members to develop innovative approaches to community engagement.

  • Grow relationships with disability community organizations in designed geographic areas of the County through follow-up and consistency of communications (including in-person, written, and digital).

  • Deliver or assist with presentations focused on Disability Services programs and services to community organizations.

  • Host information table at community organization events upon request or assignment.

  • Attend staff training and team meetings as assigned.

Marketing Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop program flyers and marketing material using Canva.

  • Promote programs, services, and events through the preparation of news releases, video production, brochures, Constant Contact newsletters, etc.

  • Attend staff training and team meetings as assigned.

  • Performs other related duties and administrative tasks as required or directed by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18, entry-level position, must have desire and interest in working with individuals with disabilities, minimal related experience required.

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish or French is a plus. (Outreach positions only)

  • Passion for community engagement and social impact.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to effectively engage with individuals of varying abilities and from diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Previous experience in community outreach, advocacy, or related fields is preferred but not required.

  • Must have some knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experience developing flyers using Canva. (Marketing positions only)

  • Ability to drive a Commission vehicle is preferred but not required. (Outreach positions only)

Supplemental Information

These positions are seasonal and do not include a benefits package; however, seasonal employees may be eligible to accrue sick leave. A complete background investigation will be completed prior to hire.

Work may be indoors or outdoors and requires extended hours of physical activity.
