Job Summary

Note, this is an Intermittent position, and does not work a predictable work schedule, and possibly only working about 8-10 hours a week.

There are no benefits with this position.

This position will use Social Security Administration (SSA) disability program knowledge and experience to investigate and analyze complex disability cases to insure claims are receipted and adjudicated in accordance with SSA Disability Regulations. To act as a liaison between the Minnesota Disability Determination Services (DDS) and SSA District Offices to resolve claims related issues. To identify, document, test, train, and implement business process changes to ensure efficient disability claim adjudication.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

At least one year of professional level work experience as an advanced professional (i.e. Disability Specialist) for the Social Security Administration.

Knowledge and experience with all aspects of the SSA law, amendments, operational policies and guidelines as they pertain to initial and continuing eligibility for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability benefits.

Experience with complex SSA disability initial claims, Age 18 continuing disability reviews and reconsiderations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to successfully present complicated subjects to both new and existing staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a DDS Supervisor or Trainer

Experience writing training materials and policy

The Duty officer is a vital part in the emergency decision making process, in situations where BCA Operations becomes the acting State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) for incidents such as, but not limited to, radiological events at the Prairie Island and Monticello nuclear plants, weather related disasters, man-made events, etc. until the SEOC at HSEM is operational (at which time the Duty Officer will move to a support role). They are a key element in deciding when to ask for and assign other state emergency resources, such as bomb squads, chemical assessment teams (CATs), search and rescue resources, etc. Under minimal supervision, evaluate and respond to requests for information and assistance from law enforcement as dictated by the information at hand including, but not limited to investigative and crime scene support (crime scene teams), IPAWs (Amber, Silver and Blue Alerts), RISSafe, etc. Provide support at the BCA for the Investigations, Laboratory, MNJIS Divisions and the Minnesota Fusion Center, located at the BCA. Receive tips and information relevant to criminal investigations, counter terrorism, the public's safety and welfare and route that information to all interested internal and external cliental. Provide security monitoring for BCA buildings and grounds. Provide building security by monitoring security systems (CCTV and building access), assess the information and take appropriate actions.
