Job Summary

Job Summary

This is an intermittent, on call as needed position.

This position will create lesson plans and training curriculum for new DDS Staff and for continuing education of all DDS staff. To identify training needs and create training materials based on quality analysis and changing procedural requirements.

To create and update DDS policy as directed by SSA, DEED, or DDS Management. To assist with planning of equipment and facility changes and upgrades based on agency needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

At least one year of experience as a Disability Specialist for the Social Security Administration.

Knowledge and experience with all aspects of the SSA law, amendments, operational policies and guidelines as they pertain to initial and continuing eligibility for Social Security and SSI disability benefits.

Experience with complex initial claims, routine continuing disability reviews (MINE claims) and reconsiderations.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to successfully present complicated subjects to both new and existing staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience as a DDS Supervisor or Trainer

Experience writing training materials and policy

Additional Requirements

This position requires successful completion of the following:

Employee reference checks will be conducted on all finalists. This may include a review of documentation related to job performance. It includes contact with the applicant's former employers.

Individuals selected for positions with the Minnesota Disability Determination Service (DDS) will go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems.

Finalists must pass a preliminary check prior to a job offer being made. A full background investigation will follow. Further details will be provided during the interview process.
