This leader directs a team of Medical Equipment Planners within the enterprise-wide Supply Chain Services Department! The director works in collaboration with Clinical Engineers, Design and Construction, and project managers to lead a system wide equipment planning program. The incumbent develops processes and procedures that result in the effective planning, purchasing, standardization, repurposing, and disposal of medical equipment that support the system's vision for preeminence.

The director champions the inclusion of the IU Health mission and values into the daily functions of the department, and creates an inclusive environment that encourages staff to provide opportunities for minority and women owned businesses. This leader also challenges staff to promote improved clinical equipment purchasing and utilization that care for the whole patient; mind, body and spirit.

Other responsibilities include being accountable for the day-to-day operations of the clinical equipment planning team through implementation of strategy, policy, direction and action plans. The director conducts ongoing analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of clinical equipment management.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's preferred. BA in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or other related field such as Biomedical Engineering preferred.

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in the planning of medical equipment on large healthcare projects and programs or equivalent Biomedical Engineering experience.

  • Requires knowledge and experience of construction management processes, means, and methods. Experience dealing with healthcare equipment manufacturers, and medical professionals.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with all levels of personnel inside and outside of the organization. Strong interpersonal skills including team and relationship building, customer service, problem solving and the ability to facilitate and lead self-directed professionals. Must possess presentation skills, experience with MS Office application and CAD.

Direct Reports: 2 Medical Equipment Planning Consultants; 1 Medical Equipment Planner

Other Key Relationships: Nursing, Facilities, Finance, and Clinical Engineering Departments
