Responsible for the Event Services Department. Manages and leads event service staff and acts as a liaison between Banquets/Catering, Event Technology, Event Planning, Sales and the customer to ensure consistent, high level service throughout property events. Promotes consistency by executing events based on catering/event service/food and beverage Standard Operating Procedures. The position ensures the Red Coat Program (MHR) is in place and adhered to by all Event Service Managers. The position is responsible for achieving guest and employee satisfaction and for assisting in managing the financial performance of the department. In addition, the Director of Event Services recognizes opportunities to up-sell and suggests enhancements to create outstanding events.


Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.


  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years experience in the event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.


Managing Event Services Operations

  • Meets with Event Managers to review scheduled events and troubleshoot potential problems/conflict.

  • Coordinates all projects involving capital resources used by the department.

  • Works closely with Director of Catering Operations to ensure successful customer events.

  • Ensures leadership is aware of significant groups which may affect property operations.

  • Consult s with customers in order to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.

Leading Event Services Teams

  • Communicates a clear and consistent message regarding departmental goals to produce desired results.

  • Identifies key drivers of business success and keeps team focused on the critical few to achieve results.

  • Ensures integration of departmental goals in game plans.

  • Ensures brand and regional business initiatives are implemented and communicates follow-up actions to team as necessary.

Managing Profitability

  • Introduces ideas to leadership team to enable property to remain competitive.

  • Encourages calculated risk-taking to generate incremental revenue and deliver excellent guest service.

  • Works directly with major groups when high profile and financial impact will be significant (limited instances).

  • Develops working relationships with outside vendors and establishes prices and service agreements to enhance the event experience and to increase additional revenue opportunities for the property.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

  • Creates an atmosphere in all event management operations areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations.

  • Consult with customers in order to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.

Conducting Human Resources Activities

  • Works with Human Resources to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Reviews property specific event operations annually and makes appropriate adjustments.

  • Reviews staffing levels to ensure that guest service and operational needs are met.

  • Communicates and ensures departmental and property emergency procedures are executed when necessary.

  • Ensures that regular, ongoing communication is happening in all areas of event operations.

VIEW JOBS 2/23/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-23T00:00 The Opportunity The Event Manager, Incentive + Field Events manages and supports the execution of Consultant learning, recognition and incentive events designed to celebrate success and help others aspire to achieve. The Event Manager, Incentive + Field Events will report to the Director, Incentive Events and work closely with Marketing, Programs, Convention and Field Development teams. This is a critical role for the organization given our mission and business model. Responsibilities: * Plan, manage and execute 3+ incentive events annually including, but not limited to: * Proactively manage all event logistics, escalating and updating the Director, Incentive Events on decisions being made, including the overall impact to operational goals and objectives * Manage complex budget and project plans to ensure events are executed on budget and on time * Hold a strong ops focus for the Incentive Events team both pre-event as well as on-site * Work with team members and internal stakeholders on marketing communications plans, registration and housing management, attendee lists, creative/promotional assets, executive agendas, etc. * Develop, manage and maintain vendor relationships with 3rdparty planners, DMCs and hotels/resorts * Implement event best practices and creativity to assure that events are engaging and productive for our Consultants * Manage contract negotiation and execution with venues/vendors * Delegate and prioritize tasks in order to manage complex and overlapping deadlines for concurrent events and initiatives * Prepare post-event summaries; analyze trends and identify strategies for subsequent events * Working closely with the Sales Team this person will support the planning and execution of 12+ Field Events throughout the United States * Actively engage with cross-functional Events Team to support the planning and execution of all other company sponsored events as needed. * Work collaboratively with Events, Marketing and Field Development team members to deliver on event and program expectations and to improve programs for maximum impact. * Work as part of the larger team to plan and execute our annual Convention with 14,000+ attendees. Independently manage and own key events throughout the weekend as well we assist in the execution of all Consultant recognition onsite. * Participate as a proactive and engaged team member to manage and execute ad hoc events. Qualifiucations: * 7 years in a related field including event or incentive program management (direct sales experience a plus, but not required) * Customer service background also a plus, as we work in direct contact with our field and place a high value on excellent customer service * Domestic and international destination knowledge, along with a passion for travel and events * Extreme attention to detail and excellent organizational skills * Ability to work autonomously to accomplish daily and weekly tasks with little supervision * Proven skills interacting with executive/senior management teams * High level of proficiency with cloud based technology solutions and Microsoft programs including Excel * The ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, rapidly changing work environment * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence without authority * Commitment to doing the right thing, pushing beyond expectations and an ability to maintain a positive friendly attitude in stressful environments * BA/BS or equivalent * Travel up to 30% The Company Rodan + Fields was founded in 2000 by Stanford-trained Dermatologists Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields with a passion for giving people the best skin of their lives — and the confidence that comes with it.
