Job Description:

The Disneyland Resort features two spectacular theme parks Disneyland (the original Disney theme park) and Disney California Adventure Park. The Resort also includes Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, the Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel and Downtown Disney District, comprised of unique dining, entertainment and shopping experiences.

We are seeking a seasoned engineering leader to serve as Director, Engineering Services for Disney's California Adventure Park. He/she will be responsible for developing & executing proactive maintenance strategies and show quality for the park's attractions. Reporting to the Vice President, Facilities and Operations, the Director will lead and inspire a team of 300 Cast Members in a 24/7, 365 day operation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years progressive engineering leadership experience in theme parks, automotive, manufacturing, aerospace/defense or related field

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to define a clear vision, motivate others in a positive way to achieve desired results, and develop a successful team

  • Proven ability to develop a business case to justify capital and expense spending

  • Proactive communicator and relater who can interface effectively at all levels in the company and can appropriately influence business results through negotiation, persuasion and personal presence

  • Proven blend of integrated systems thinking, business acumen, independent judgement, strategic vision, technical expertise and hands on leadership

  • Proven track record of driving efficiency and effectiveness in large teams through established and creative metrics and collaboration

  • Professional Engineering License (CA or FL a plus)

  • Leadership experience in a union environment

  • Familiarity with ASTM F24 and California DOSH Requirements pertaining to the maintenance and reliability of attractions and/or highly complex machinery

  • Familiarity with SAP and maintenance reporting/scheduling systems such as Maximo

  • Experience with control systems, PLCs, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics and/or drive systems

  • Motivate, lead and develop Cast Members through teamwork & collaboration, growth & development and reward & recognition opportunities

  • Partner with clients and partners to develop strategic maintenance and service plans, including planned expense work and capital programs

  • Prioritize work based on Guest impacts, resource limitations, safety initiatives, part obsolesce, cost savings, and other critical competing requirements

  • Ensure all assets are compliant with applicable regulatory requirements and company guidelines

  • Manage budgets, cost-control measures, customer relations, and Guest & Cast safety programs

  • Employ in-depth problem solving methodology which incorporates root-cause analysis, action planning and a continuous improvement process for preventative maintenance strategies

  • Plan, implement and monitor effective systems, focusing on strategies to improve safety, reliability and show quality

  • Partner with vendors to provide safe, high-quality, reliable and cost effective maintenance services

  • Evaluate technical trends and stay current with industry technology, developing business cases as required to incorporate new technology or processes to improve the operations
