POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are currently seeking a Director/Senior Director of Clinical Pharmacology to lead the development and execution of clinical pharmacology plans that characterize the pharmacokinetic (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) properties and drug-exposure relationships of candidate molecules. By integrating PK, PD, pharmacogenetic, demographic and disease knowledge, the individual will be critical in optimizing and driving insightful drug development plans in support of Ra's novel small molecule and peptide therapies. Primary responsibilities will include development of program-specific clinical pharmacology strategy, analysis and interpretation of PK/PD data, and modeling and simulation in support of a rapidly growing portfolio. Candidates should be self-motivated with experience working and leading in a highly collaborative cross-functional environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the development of novel therapeutic agents from early phase to late phase, regulatory submission, and beyond via characterizing PK and integrating knowledge in PK/PD/efficacy/safety to select the right dose and dose regimen for the general population and subpopulations.

  • Provide expertise and know-how in designing and implementing clinical pharmacology strategy in clinical trials during all clinical phases

  • Interact with regulatory authorities with in-depth knowledge on subject matter area, regulatory requirements and guidelines related to clinical pharmacology and drug development

  • Address and resolve scientific issues arising in drug discovery/development programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ph.D., PharmD, or M.D. in pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceutics, pharmacology, or a related discipline and a minimum of 5-7 years of industry experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic aspects of clinical protocol design, writing, data interpretation and reporting is a prerequisite.

  • The successful applicant should have experience in providing input on clinical pharmacology plans and the preparation of regulatory submissions (e.g. INDs, NDAs, BLAs and/or significant sNDAs/sBLAs).

  • Hands-on experience with modeling and application of quantitative clinical pharmacology including pharmacometrics and other model-based approaches to guide drug development is required.

  • Experience working on the development of both small molecules and biologics is highly desirable.

  • Able to solve technical problems with enthusiasm in a team environment

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to thrive and develop in a biotechnology culture

VIEW JOBS 3/19/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-06-17T00:00 Your tasks and responsibilities The primary responsibilities of this role, Director,Clinical Pharmacology Lead, are to: * Independently represent Clinical Pharmacology (CP)Oncology in global project teams (GPTs) and related clinicalteams; * Take over leadership activities from the Head of CPOncology for specific assigned tasks, asappropriate; * Ensure adequate consideration and implementation ofall aspects of CP, Pharmacokinetics (PK) and Pharmacokinetics /Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) including model-based developmentapproaches for all phases of Oncology drug developmentprojects; * Set-up, execute and coordinate the CP strategyincluding related core CP studies in line with the overalldevelopment and submission strategy for assignedprojects; * Drive quantitative PK/PD activities to supportclinical study design and dose/schedule selection for First inHuman (FiH) first-in-human and other exploratory clinical studiesin close alignment with other functions within TranslationalMedicine Oncology (TMO), Oncology Development as well asPharmacology, Toxicology, DMPK andPharmacometrics; * Provide in-depth CP, PK and PK/PD advise andexpertise to independently design, plan, execute and evaluate coreCP studies as well as to adequately support relevant OncologyDevelopment and Global Medical Affairs (GMA) studies with CPcomponents such as dosing strategies, drug- interaction potentialand exposure-response/safety analysis in close collaboration withthe respective clinical functions and studyteams; * Closely interact with other functions withinTranslational Medicine Oncology (TMO) as well as within OncologyDevelopment to define the best use of biomarker concepts inconjunction with modelling and simulation approaches fordevelopment projects; * Independently evaluate and report CP relatedresults, draw consequences from critical outcomes, adapt theproject plan by implementing appropriate measures to avert risks inthe context of the drug development project; * Constantly look for innovative approaches in thefield of CP and ensure optimal utilization of resources andappropriate strategies to make go/no go decisions on programs in atimely and cost effective way; * Lead and manage the preparation of the CP sectionsof major clinical and regulatory documents (e.g. Common TechnicalDocuments (CTDs), New Drug Applications (NDAs), Investigational NewDrugs (INDs), Investigational Medicinal Product Dossiers (IMPDs)and provide global CP submission support for all countries /regions including the US, Europe, Japan, Asia Pacific, Canada andLatin America; * Represent CP Oncology externally, e.g. in meetingswith authorities or key opinion leader (KOL) meetings and developand manage KOL relationships to facilitate CP strategies as part ofthe overall development strategies; * Participate in critical in-licensing andout-licensing activities and independently provide CP, PK and PK/PDexpertise in due diligences.
