Reporting to the VP of Technical Development, the Director-Analytics & Data Science is responsible for the delivery of solutions to meet DRC's various data and analytical needs. This is a hands-on role, requiring leadership skills and in-depth technical acumen on data science tools, engineering patterns, and a keen interest in discovering underlying insight from vast amounts of data. The director will lead a technical team and own impactful initiatives focused on key analytic deliverables and innovations in reporting, data science, and insight discovery. They manage all technical aspects such as software development, architecture, application operations, scalability, and reliability. This position is responsible for leading other development team leads along with the VP and CIO to develop the overall business strategy and outline goals for the organization.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop analytic enterprise and cloud software using a variety of languages/platforms to support integration and deployment of analytics products and solutions.

  • Work across internal Analytics leadership to rapidly develop new analytic innovations, and be able to present them to stakeholders in a compelling way, demonstrating value and differentiation.

  • Evangelize concepts beyond current offerings and consider business model innovation in the context of the larger competitive market.

  • Develop infrastructure for analytics and analytic software development, automated testing, and release management using best software development practices including agile development, unit testing, continuous integration and performance/memory profiling.

  • Architect and develop Big Data tools that scale up to enable processing and analysis of large volumes of data in different formats collected from disparate sources.

  • Develop analytics or large data processing solutions or applications through use of a combination of Big Data technologies (such as Hadoop/MapReduce) and NoSQL technologies.

  • Evolve Transaction Analytics Big Data tools and infrastructure; evaluate new technologies, balance performance and cost constraints.

  • Ensure assigned teams are managing their technical direction and it is consistent with the enterprise.

  • Maintain standard measures to remain knowledgeable of their team capabilities and capacity.

  • Experience developing strategy for the long- term goals of the organization.

  • Successful experience in leading technology departments.

  • Thorough understanding of organizational strategy and technical acumen is required for this position.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in delivering technology -based solutions.

  • Experience developing business strategies with senior management and successful execution of strategies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering from a competitive university

  • Education or Assessment related experience

  • 8+ years of hands on leadership experience

  • Possess sound negotiation skills to leverage organizational purchasing power and also to draw up the best contracts and service level agreements (or SLAs).

  • Technologies and skills utilized by the Director include: Node JS, Angular, SQL, Python, Jira, GitHub/Git, Jenkins

  • Familiarity with Hadoop/CDH, Spark, Storm, Pig/Hive, Neo4j, Condor clusters Decision Trees, Random Forests, Non-linear regression, logistic regressions, neural networks, SVM, k-means, nearest neighbors and unsupervised learning algorithms; and a combination of Big Data (including Hadoop/MapReduce) and NoSQL technologies to enable analytics or large data processing solutions or applications.

  • Familiarity with reporting systems such as ThoughtSpot, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI

  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence also a plus

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Be able to work under supervision and accept feedback

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Gsuite, and similar tools

  • Relate effectively and work respectfully with diverse work groups

  • Ability to consistently perform well during times of increased work load

  • Set and meet deadlines

  • Manage multiple job functions simultaneously

  • Ensure team on-call responsibilities are met and/or orchestrate after hours support with your staff when necessary.

  • Other duties as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time

  • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary

Agents and insureds can count on us to put boots in the farmer's field promptly and to settle claims with industry-leading speed and accuracy. Overview: The position will be the key member of the ProAg Human Resources department and will work extremely closely with the senior members of ProAg. This individual will act as a strategic business partner to design, plan and implement human resources (HR) programs and policies, including but not limited to workforce planning, employee relations, employee development, change management and training. This position will also be responsible for diverse duties to support multiple locations in various states by interacting with all levels of employees and management within the area of support. This position will also work closely with and has a dotted line reporting relationship to TMHCC corporate HR. This position requires domestic travel up to 25% based on the need. Performance objectives: * Employee Relations: Establish good working relationships with employees by spending quality time and being present to make communication more convenient. Address concerns promptly, and if applicable, conduct investigations to resolve conflicts. Partner with other HR team members in organizing and administering employee events, recognition programs, etc. Ensure employees adhere to TMHCC's policies and procedures. * Workforce Planning: Assist with the continual process to align staffing needs to meet organizational objectives. * Performance Management: Work collaboratively with managers towards achieving employee's individual goals and objectives, which includes managing the performance review process, performance improvement, and professional development plans. Analyze various HR data, such as turnover trends, and propose a strategy to breach the gap between actual and desired organizational performance. * Onboarding: Partner with managers to effectively integrate new employees into the organization and familiarize them with TMHCC's culture and environment. * Training: Partner with the Learning and Development team to provide practical solutions for talent development, including understanding and anticipating employee's professional developmental needs. * Employment Law Compliance: Stay abreast with the latest employment law changes and make appropriate updates to ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment law changes for assigned location(s). * Actively participate in various special projects including TMHCC HR projects. Expectations: * Within the first 30 days, familiarize with ProAg and TMHCC's policies and procedures as well as HR policies and procedures, to include Employee Handbook, business policies and, internal practices. Obtain the Senior Vice President of Operations' expectations. * Within the first 45 days, meet with ProAg's department leaders and management team to gain an overview of their current practices and operations; introduce yourself and provide a high-level overview of your role. This includes taking a consultative and strategic approach to the following: * Understanding the department's role in the organization * Identifying most significant HR concerns and challenges * Obtaining the department head's expectations from HR * Establishing a timetable for next steps * Within the first 90 days, introduce yourself, in person or via phone, to employees (onsite and remote) under your support. This will help your acclimatization to your new role in the organization. Qualifications: * Ideally, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant HR experience and minimum of six of leadership experience. * Strong experience in HR fundamentals, including understanding of EEO laws and conflict resolution. * Insurance / Financial Services industry experience preferred * Ability to build trust and relationships with department heads is essential * Optimization of work processes.
