This position serves as the Director of the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs (WRI). The Director holds responsibility for vision, values, and strategy, and collaborates with a leadership team at WRI and designates of the Rutgers-Camden campus to operationalize the vision. The Director is responsible for promoting strategic relationships with university and community stakeholders, developing and maintaining a public relations strategy, growing WRI's core strengths (see below), and securing grants, contracts and other revenue sources consistent with the WRI's mission, ethics, and strengths.

The Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs (WRI) is a research center at Rutgers University-Camden that collaborates with community and university partners to conduct evaluations of programs and services, leverage data for action, and support the development of community-based initiatives. Using social science research methods ranging from data-motivated storytelling to complex statistical analysis, and guided by core values of curiosity and collaboration, the WRI specializes in transforming fractured data into actionable information. The WRI supports Rutgers' mission of community engagement in research, teaching, and service by connecting the multidisciplinary expertise of faculty to regional problems, developing research and professional skills in students, and linking the resources of higher education to communities in southern New Jersey.

Primary responsibilities include vision, strategy and leadership; networking and securing internal and external funding to sustain and grow the Institute, communications, and project work.

The Director will provide vision, strategy and leadership around WRI's internal operations, including policies and procedures, budgeting, compliance, and staff management, that are consistent with WRI's core values of curiosity and collaboration, and oversee the implementation of these internal operations by WRI's leadership team. The Director will build and maintain relationships and collaborations with leaders, organizations, and stakeholders across the region, state, and country relevant to the ongoing work of the Institute.

In order to deliver on WRI's vision and mission, the Director will strategically develop and maintain internal and external relationships and business opportunities. The Director will identify key opportunities and goals that align with WRI mission and vision, and work with the WRI leadership team to secure grants, contracts, and other potential revenue sources.

Externally, the Director will project a strong public presence though attendance at relevant events, manage a strong external advisory board, and actively make connections between community stakeholders and members of the Rutgers community. Internally, the Director will work in close collaboration with campus leadership and faculty to expand WRI's core services in support of faculty research and campus initiatives.

To position WRI within Rutgers and the region, the Director will develop a coherent communications vision inclusive of internal and external audiences, and will develop, oversee, and participate in efforts to promote WRI and WRI's products, including, among other methods, attendance at national conferences, messaging to the university, dissemination of materials to public and academic audiences, speaking to the media and maintaining a public relations strategy.

The Director reports to the Vice Chancellor for Research and works in close collaboration with a consultative faculty group established by the Director and reviewed annually by the Vice Chancellor for Research.

The Assistant-Director significant role is establishes the New Jersey Nursing Emotional Well-being Institute (NJ-NEW) to be the dominant voice on nursing workforce well-being at the New Jersey Nursing Collaborating Center for Nursing (NJCCN). The Assistant Director will work closely with the other co-director to implement and monitor the initiatives of the institute outlined in the grants from The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey and future funders. The program office will expand on existing emotional well-being initiatives set forth in previous New Jersey Nursing Initiatives a program of the RWJF and establish new programs under the new grants. The Assistant Director will report to the Executive Director of NJCCN.    Among the key duties of this position are the following: * Leads the program office staff and hired consultants on the strategic plan, policies, budgets and communications plans while managing day-to-day program operations. * Key elements of the position include: grant management and monitoring, overseeing confidential materials, forecasting NJ-NEW programmatic activities based on evidence-based research, trends and feedback from stakeholders while providing technical assistance to trainers, serving as a spokesperson in the field, and in some cases, administering product development. * Serves as a key liaison with the Foundations and stakeholders. Responsible for leading the establishment of the Program office at NJCCN. The launching of the New Jersey Nursing Emotional Well-being Institute by developing a strategic, marketing plans and hiring of staff to support programming.  * Oversees coordination of the following NJ-NEW Institute programs of Virtual Schwartz Rounds, Stress First Aid and Well-being hubs and the development of new programs that support emotional well-being.
