The Director will set the visual merchandising strategy and plans for 5,400 Branded Retail locations, affiliated 3rd Party locations, Signature stores, and new concept stores. The Director will be responsible for Visual Merchandising at T-Mobile and introducing the Future of Retail and new store formats. This newly created role is required to tackle additional complexity and the need for more strategic work in merchandising. The Director leads the team that brings products and services to life in our retail stores.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in related field is required

  • A passion for retail, with an eye on innovation and technology

  • A minimum of 10 years demonstrated Visual Merchandising experience with expertise in product placement, design and customer experience strategy

  • Working knowledge of design/build process including exterior signage, construction, permitting and installation

  • Direct experience as a partner in developing and shaping retail design strategy

  • Working knowledge of InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat preferred

  • Proficiency in interior design a strong plus

  • Ability to collaborate with Accessories and 2D creative team to ensure store strategy supports visual merchandising, interactive and demo executions strategy

  • Project management strength: able to plan, prioritize, organize and delegate work effectively

  • Proven strength in problem analysis and decision-making

  • Set Visual Merchandising strategy; define principles and standards that span a spectrum of store types:

  • 5,400 T-Mobile stores

  • 6 Signature stores

  • New concept stores

  • Accountable for retail displays that elevate the physical expression of the T-Mobile brand

  • Build visual merchandising strategy and solutions that meet prioritized business objectives

  • Define the customer journey, space allocation and promotional impact to deliver strong business results

  • Define strategy and impact for third party vendors within T-Mobile stores

  • Build operationally sound solutions that consider frontline efficacy, budget, and complexity to land in store with other products and priorities.

  • Develop strategy for seasonal merchandising plans across all store types while delivering customer journey impact according to prioritized business objectives

  • Define placement and impact of third parties including vendor supplied fixtures, small-wares, displays both permanent and temporary

  • Build suite(s) of small-wares and display-wares by store type including armed security, sign holders, and other merchandising components. Make budget recommendations and hold team accountable for cost-effective solutions

  • Work closely with all cross-functional teams in Retail

  • Make recommendations to various VP functional groups on how to allocate funds to ensure visual merchandising solutions to optimized impact on field resources

Essential Functions: * Pull merchandise to set-up visual representations using the loan book to check merchandise into and out of departments * Construct, paint, set-up, and install signs, sale banners, panels, and other items required for special events, clearance events, and fashion shows * Set-up and maintain fixtures using hand or power tools, such as saws, dykes, hammers, screwdrivers, staple guns, ladders, mannequin units, scissors, nails, spray paint, spray glue, and knives * Maintain and present visual displays in a compelling and exciting manner in accordance with company directives * Understand customer preferences and exercise judgment when deviating from company directives to appeal to specific customer base * Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality Qualifications: Education/Experience: * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Additional education training in art or merchandising is preferred. * Merchandise presentation or visual presentation experience is preferred. Communication Skills: * Effective written and verbal skills, ability to interpret instructional documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Reasoning Ability: * Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions Physical Demands: * This position Involves heavy lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands. * Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lift at least 30 lbs. * Will involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. * May involve reaching above eye level.
