We are currently seeking a Director, Vehicle Program Management for an agile team that enjoys bringing cutting-edge vehicles to life. This position requires an experienced professional that has a track record of successfully delivering large scale, complex, and technical products from concept, engineering, launch, to ongoing product continuity in the marketplace. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, and to possess the ability to lead and strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
The Role:
Lead a team of vehicle line program managers and own the totality of nameplate life-cycle management and performance across multiple stages of the product development process, from concept through launch and marketplace continuity
Ensure program readiness by meeting engineering requirements, volume and cost targets, and overall quality standards
Provide leadership to vehicle platforms to achieve segment objectives by balancing engineering requirements with timing, cost, investment, quality, performance and manufacturing capabilities in concert with customer expectations
Responsible for making financial and business decisions for the vehicle line, developing business cases during development and securing approval from company leadership
Serve as the final arbitrator for vehicle changes and balance program needs between internal functions including vehicle engineering, software, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, and quality
Develop cross-functional teams that leverage functions such as platforms and modules across multiple vehicle lines to optimize product costs and investment, and hold them accountable to meeting program deliverables
Mentor and guide the organization to develop skills and competencies for program management and cross-functional collaboration to deliver enterprise goals and objectives to enable successful vehicle launches
Qualifications:
Passionate about automotive product development and leading cross-functional teams towards a common goal through solutions-oriented leadership
Highly collaborative; comfortable working with diverse people in a matrixed environment
Strong time management and organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to rapidly prioritize competing requests and needs
Ability to foster and support a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork; skilled at building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues across all departments
Strong technical aptitude to drive development of a high technology product, and analyze data to guide strategic planning
Comfortable giving effective presentations to, and facilitating meetings with, all levels of the organization
Experienced with taking multiple products to market as a program manager, or other relevant leader, and working closely with all functions of an enterprise (Finance, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Industrial Design, etc) to manage the product development lifecycle
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to positively influence cross-functional partners
Ability to travel domestically and internationally 10-15%
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with a Master's degree preferred (in engineering and/or business function)
Preferred:
10+ years of experience in automotive industry product development and program management
5+ years of experience program managing high dollar value products/product development
Engineering experience in automotive, aerospace or other relevant product area
Operational experience with NPI (New Product Introduction), product launch, and/or post-sales support
