DIRECTOR, VALUE & ACCESS MARKETING
SUMMARY
The Director, Value & Access Marketing will play a critical role in the growth of Ionis and its transformation into a fully integrated biotechnology organization, by building capabilities for payer and access marketing for Ionis' innovative products. This individual will be responsible for leading development of the US payer value proposition and reimbursement support and patient services materials that enable patient access for Ionis' launch products. This position will report to the VP, Head of US Market Access and ideally be located at our corporate headquarters in Carlsbad California, or at our Boston office location.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidate will:
Lead value and access marketing strategy and tactical execution plans for launch assets Olezarsen and Donidalorsen for integrated customer-facing field teams
Drive development of Payer, HCP, and Patient marketing resources for Payer Accounts, Trade & Distribution, Field Reimbursement, Pricing & Contracting, and Patient Services teams
Develop effective and aligned communication strategy and tools for formulary decision makers (Payers, PBMs, Institutions, etc.) including Pipeline Review, Pre-approval Information Exchange and Value decks and tools
Collaborate with Payer Account leadership to align on strategy to attain desired breadth and quality of coverage within targeted access accounts in a timely manner
Develop the promotional plan, programs, multi-channel communications platform and tactics to pull-through market access strategy (training materials, selling resources/tools, and field sales integration)
Represent US Market Access in key brand activities including strategic planning, launch readiness, training, launch execution, and performance management
Collaborate with Marketing and creative agency to ensure collateral is aligned with overall brand strategy
Manage and coordinate cross-functional and cross-disciplinary activity to drive effective development and delivery of customer communications
Navigate resources through the Promotional Review Committee (PRC) process
Ensure critical customer and business insights inform analytics and performance reporting to support enhanced strategic and tactical plan evolution and implementation
Anticipate market dynamics and analyze market data to proactively identify and address channel and customer-level opportunities and threats related to drug access
Implement and manage vendor contracts to agreed-upon service levels, budgets, and timelines
Clearly communicate goals, progress, risks, and mitigation plans for critical activities impacting launch to leadership during quarterly business reviews
Collaborate with Marketing, Trade & Distribution, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Patient Services, and others, as necessary
REQUIREMENTS
Undergraduate bachelor's degree required, ideally in health sciences or business/marketing; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
A minimum of 15 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree, or 12 years with an master's degree
New product launch experience in the US required, preference for specialty drug launch
Experience with both Pharmacy and Medical Benefit products, with knowledge of rare disease, orphan, or ultra-orphan product experience highly desirable
Experience working with agencies on creation of materials and obtaining approvals with promotional material review committees
Strong leadership skills and ability to partner / effectively collaborate across functions to gain alignment, hold external partners accountable, and improve business performance
Demonstrated ability and proven history of driving projects and initiatives to completion
Highly organized and detail oriented, with strong project management and presentation and writing skills, proactive communications

The pay scale for this position is $200,884 to $260,000
