Director, Transportation & Fulfillment

Shutterfly seeks a highly experienced individual to lead the Transportation and Fulfillment function within Supply Chain. The Director, Transportation & Fulfillment is responsible for all operations pertaining to direct logistics ensuring customer satisfaction, customer retention, network optimization and performance of related tools and processes. This role works closely with Manufacturing and related Fulfillment Partners to support smooth and efficient operations. This includes supervising Shutterfly's carrier network and working with both internal and external customers on problem resolution as it pertains to e-commerce logistics. He/she is responsible for continually improving service while looking for ways to reduce costs through process improvement, network optimization and standardization across Shutterfly's manufacturing platform. In addition, this role will help build the roadmap for innovation in delivery experience to ensure Shutterfly remains an industry leader with respect to our Fulfillment capabilities. This role requires significant analytical skills, elevated attention to detail, strong project management abilities, and proven experience negotiating carrier agreements.

Job Responsibilities.

  • Oversees analysis of fulfillment metrics; works with business to improve promise performance and speed to customer

  • Negotiates carrier contracts and is accountable for fulfillment performance; oversees billing concerns

  • Responsible for Shutterfly's overall carrier strategy; Continually innovates, identifies opportunities, influences change which will positively impact customer experience

  • Research and evaluate ancillary technology solutions that may improve our fulfillment processes; ongoing management of these solutions and corresponding service providers

  • Develop and maintain periodic reports and KPIs

  • Ensures compliance with all import / export documentation and regulatory requirements

  • Support overall design and business requirements of multi-carrier parcel management system

  • Lead execution of transportation projects across multiple functional groups

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or Master's in a related field preferred

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in a related job function, including 3+ years of relevant management experience

  • Subject matter expert with extensive experience managing carriers and negotiating contracts in an e-commerce environment

  • A history of teamwork and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done

  • Knowledge and direct experience using a diverse set of business intelligence reporting tools

  • Effective communicator, ability to use data to tell a compelling story and drive change

  • Deep analytical skills, strong out-of-the-box thinking and a curious mind
