The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute'sDepartment of Data Scienceis seeking a Director of Training andEducation, a fully funded position. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing training curriculafor a team of master's-level statisticians and computational biologists, including topics related to clinical trials,statistical modeling and inference, and genomics analysis.

They will also create a continuing education program,
online resources, and teach workshops. Qualifications include a PhD in biostatistics, statistics, or related fields,with a focus on, or willingness to learn computational biology. The department encourages researchcollaborations, and although the position is fully funded, the department will facilitate relevant researchcollaborations as desired.

The Director of Training and Education will additionally hold a dependent lecturer appointment at the HarvardT.H. Chan School of Public Health in theDepartment of Biostatistics. This Harvard faculty appointment will enableparticipation in classroom teaching and advising activities at the School, as well any other relevant departmentaland School initiatives, as appropriate.Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care.

We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.The successful candidate will: __ Develop training curricula for a collaborative team: a group of 40-50 masters-level statisticians andcomputational biologists who collaborate with investigators across the institute. Topics will include clinicaltrials design, monitoring and analysis; observational study design, biases and analysis methods; survivalanalysis; genomics analysis; relevant topics in statistical inference, linear models, and reproducible research.The curricula will be composed of both theory and implementation in modern computing environments.[NOTE:

Although some level of proficiency is required for a subset of the topics listed above, expert
knowledge of all is not required. The curricula will be developed in collaboration with our faculty and we willprovide time and resources for the person in this position to learn new application areas.] __ Develop a continuing education program that expands the training curricula to tutorials on more advancedmethods and their implementation particularly relevant to oncology research, and to introductory overviewsof novel study designs and methods. __ Create an online infrastructure of searchable enduring materials developed from this curriculum. Preferablyon GitHub. __ Teach weekly in person workshop/journal club to our biostatistics and computational biology collaborativeteam. __ Teach quarterly in person workshops on topics related to fundamentals of research design and basic dataanalysis for clinicians and scientists outside of our department; and facilitate ad hoc requests for traininglectures from outside of our department. Experience or willingness to teach hybrid or remote
workshops is expected.] __ Help onboard PhD students and postdoctoral fellows joining research groups in our department. __ Teach one course annually in the Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of PublicHealth and, as appropriate/desired engage in student advising and/or other departmental or SchoolactivitiesCandidates must have a PhD (or equivalent) in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field and aninterest in computational biology. Candidates should have demonstrated potential for excellence in teachingBiostatistics and/or Statistics at the university level.
