The Director of Technology & Product is responsible for the conception and implementation of products and technologies that help employees create great content and deliver it to viewers. She strives to identify the needs of the viewer and the company and develop solutions to satisfy each.

Attracting and retaining the Newsy audience is the primary objective, while also working to streamline production and solving business problems. The will cultivate a culture of swift innovation and high reliability while coordinating closely with the Distribution, Marketing, and News departments to execute company initiatives.


  • Develops, executes and maintains Newsy's product development roadmap, serving the needs of viewers, employees, partners, and business customers.

  • Protects the user's experience and promote the voice of the user within the company.

  • Works to develop strategies that attract and retain new users on Newsy digital properties, decreasing the average cost of acquisition of a user.

  • In conjunction with the editorial team, develops technologies, systems and processes that streamline or augment the news production process and news product.

  • In conjunction with the distribution and sales teams, identify and implement technologies or strategies that maximize the lifetime value of a user.

  • Responsible for the overall technology infrastructure that supports the publishing of Newsy content, including content production workflow, news workflow, web hosting and reliability, and IT architecture.

  • Works with the distribution team to architect integrations with new partners.

  • Directly supervises product managers and oversees development efforts to meet strategic objectives.

  • Ensure the legality of Newsy's code development, data collection, and technology licensing practices.

  • Ensures the communication of product management and technology initiatives across the organization.

  • Sets objectives for direct reports. Ensures the ongoing training and development of direct reports.

  • Analyze data to help make data-driven business decisions.

  • Create and maintain relationships with strategic technology partners.

  • Work closely with the HR team to identify, attract, and retain key team members.

  • Act as a member of the Newsy leadership team in setting company strategy and leading by example.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Computer Science or Engineering, or Digital Marketing or related field

  • 5+ years of software product management experience

  • Experience in development team leadership


  • Proven leadership and communication skills

  • Virtual and physical systems architecture and project planning

  • Knowledge of various development methodologies

  • Knowledge of video technology, media, and the Internet with a strong understanding of technology trends, video production, and content distribution

  • Ability to manage remote teams and work with contractors

  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify problems in sophisticated web-based systems

Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related professional experience. * Minimum of 8 years of previous construction technology experience Proficient with some of the following: * Three-dimensional modeling, drafting, visual scheduling, graphic design, animation, audio/video production, audio/video editing, LiDAR and SLAM capture, photogrammetry capture and processing, UAS/Drone operations, programming/scripting languages, application development, data structure/analysis, and collaboration tools. * Collaboration management; critical thinking abilities; oral, written, and graphic communication skills; and knowledge of construction contract documents are required.
