POSITION TITLE: Director of Teaching and Learning/Title IIA
PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide an ongoing program of planned systematic activities designed to increase the competencies of educational personnel in attaining desired student achievement and classified personnel in attaining a desired increase in job function.
REQUIREMENTS:
Educational Level: Master's Degree or higher (Preferred major in educational administration)
Certification/License: Hold or be eligible for a Standard or Non-renewable Tier 1 or Tier 2
Educational Leadership Certification.
Experience: Five or more years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience
Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
Proficient Skills: Leadership, communication, extensive knowledge of curriculum and instruction, teaching/training methods, supervision, organizational development/ management, and knowledge of adult learning theory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1.Plan, develop and implement training sessions and professional learning programs by conducting needs analysis, developing curriculum, select appropriate means of presentation and conducting professional learning sessions.
2.Relates system goals to professional learning activities.
3.Coordinates with other appropriate local system personnel and external agencies in planning professional learning activities.
4.Directs induction of Professional Learning for new leadership personnel and new
teachers
5.Assists with training of paraprofessionals/teacher aides
6.Compile reports and data tracking as requested.
7.Assists with the System and School Improvement Plan
8.Assists with the coordination of all Title IIA federal funding programs for the
Douglas County School System
9.Communicate system and school professional learning needs with instructional staff
Provides training as needed
Coordinates with system, regional, state, and national consultants to meet identified school needs
Works to identify research-based professional learning opportunities to meet
individual school needs
Effectively and accurately maintains the budget for the area
Participates cooperatively in Instructional Staff meetings
Works with other Central Office personnel on school and system improvement
strategies
Facilitates on-line learning opportunities
Attends all administrator and instructional staff meetings as defined by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
Provides one-on-one, team/department on-site, and web-based training to staff
Coordinate professional learning programs by selecting qualified speakers and
instructors, arranging for training facilities and visual aids, and preparing and
distributing announcements and resource guides
Plan, develop, write, revise and maintain handbooks and manuals for departmental training and succession planning purposes.
Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Assistant
Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
