Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, the Director, Talent Strategy plays a key role in developing, implementing, and supporting talent strategies and initiatives that align with Dartmouth's goals and objectives. Responsible for enterprise-wide, non-academic talent review processes, succession planning, and talent development.

  • Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • 10+ years of experience in talent management, organizational effectiveness, or related roles, with a track record of implementing talent strategies that contribute to organizational success.

  • Deep knowledge of the talent management cycle, including processes and programs in competency modelling, performance management, career development, succession planning, and education and training.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating organizational change initiatives, and establishing strong working relationships.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Complex problem-solving skills - identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Experience with selection and implementation of cloud based LMS and eLearning products.

  • Master's degree or relevant certification.

Key Accountabilities

Description

Comprehensive Talent Management Strategy

  • Engage in strategic collaboration with executive leadership to discern and interpret their objectives, translating these into actionable talent alignment strategies.

  • Create a talent management framework, ensuring it is rooted in progressive organizational theory and best practices.

  • Create systems in support of in-depth analytics, leveraging data from employee satisfaction and workplace culture assessments to inform and drive targeted initiatives for business unit leaders and their teams.

Talent Assessment and Succession Planning

  • Architect and oversee a comprehensive Talent Assessment and Succession Planning protocol, ensuring a regular and systematic approach to talent evaluation and progression.

  • Establish and maintain rigorous criteria and methodologies for talent assessment, championing diversity, equity, and inclusivity in all talent-related decisions and initiatives.

  • Develop and steward a dynamic succession pipeline to fill pivotal roles as necessitated by organizational evolution and market demands.

Percentage Of Time 30% Description

Talent Development

  • Lead a team dedicated to various aspects of organizational effectiveness, with an emphasis on talent optimization and leadership development.

  • Work together with the Manager, Organizational Learning and Development, and other learning & development professionals across campus, to sculpt and refine talent development initiatives.

  • Provide coaching to HR Business Partners on the design and implementation of growth paths for employees, ensuring clear progression and development channels are in place and accessible.

  • Explore and forge strategic internal and external partnerships to develop unique and innovative pathways for the advancement of high-potential talent.

  • Build, maintain, evaluate, and/or update systems and processes to support leaders and managers in communicating and clarifying job responsibilities, priorities, performance expectations, and development plans.
