The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and creative Director of Systems Engineering to join our team. You will lead the West Enterprise Pre-Sales organization and will act as a working manager. It is expected that you can coach, lead and motivate the West Enterprise Pre-Sales team and at times be called upon to perform the functions of a Nutanix Systems Engineer. You will report to the VP, Americas Systems Engineering and will act as the Systems Engineering partner for the VP Sales, West Enterprise.

Sales Engineering at Nutanix

Our Americas Systems Engineering organization is made up of over 300+ customer-focused technical sales professionals that provide pre-sales consulting, technical guidance, and hands-on assistance to customers and Nutanix channel partners. Our Systems Engineering organization collaborates and partners with our sales teams to recommend and design effective and appropriate customer solutions based on Nutanix offerings. This team also acts in a consultative fashion and is looked to as an expert in their field by the Nutanix sales teams, business partners, and customers.

Your Role

In this role, you will support a field SE team in complex evaluations, troubleshooting, and demanding customer environments. Recruit and hire new Systems Engineers and managers into the territory and provide mentorship and training for them once onboard. Build and maintain relationships with key customers in the territory. Act as a floating Systems Engineer and fill in for existing team members if there is a resource conflict or need for vacation coverage. Take ownership of ensuring channel enablement is ongoing. As well as,

  • Provide an escalation point for pre-sales and post-sales technical issues that arise in the territory.

  • Foster channel partner relationships with their technical teams.

  • Management responsibility for Systems Engineers in the territory including regular 1:1s with your direct reports, 2x2 meetings with your sales counterpart, expense management, quarterly check-ins, escalation conversations, etc.

  • The ability to travel roughly 50% of the time within the region.

You are a humble leader with a bias for action. Essential to success in this role is a keen ability to operate with a 'whatever it takes' attitude and motivation to do whatever is necessary to assist in closing a deal. Nutanix provides unrivaled support and tools from the Engineering, Marketing, and Product Development departments to leverage to exceed sales performance goals. In this position you will be working very closely with organizational executives and have a large amount of influence on outcome and initiatives.

  • You have 10+ years of experience as Sr./Pre-Sales Systems Engineer.

  • You have 3-5+ years of experience in a management role.

  • You possess deep knowledge of the virtualization and storage markets as well as design capabilities.

  • You have strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.

  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 245,680 and USD $ 368,520 per year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
