The Cloud Hardware Experience Engineering Team within Azure Cloud Server Infrastructure (CSI) group is responsible for providing the hardware that powers our datacenters and for improving customer experience and quality of Microsoft Azure. We are looking for a passionate Principal HW Engineering Manager with exceptional knowledge of server and hands-on experience with building and maintaining scalable hardware infrastructures. You will be working with the latest technologies that go into building a hyperscale cloud services.

  • Bachelor's required in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or another related field

  • Deep understanding of modern server architectures, including datacenter operations

  • Experience in leading a high-performance engineering team that delivers results and impact

  • Engineering experience in validation of hardware (Components, Subsystems, and SW) against key performance metrics. Creating test plans

  • Capable of technical deep dives into service design, operating systems, networking and storage

  • Passion to learn world class techniques and tools

  • Individual effectiveness skills such as discipline, time management, decision making, planning and organizing work, summarizing results through technical reports (TFS, MS Office) are highly desired.

  • Self-driven, self-motivated individual, must be able work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment and across the team of engineers

  • Must be able to plan work, and work to a plan adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving Environment

  • Knowledge and working experience in data mining, statistics, mathematics is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the customer experience with HW is maintained and/or improved by effective testing of various components or subsystems with our HW solutions

  • Lead and build a world class HW system engineering team

  • Develop and deliver software that measures and improves the quality of Azure Hardware that exceeds customer expectations

  • Identify and fix or drive fixes for systemic issue

  • Collaborate with hardware architects to determine end to end verifications

  • Solve problems relating to mission critical services and build automation to prevent problem recurrence

The candidate will work in a collaborative environment across many teams and organizations: quality, development, system qualification, supply chain, and sourcing. Ideally the candidate has experience or exposure to AC/DC and DC/DC conversion topologies as well as familiarity with three phase power systems. Qualifications * BSEE Degree required, MSEE Preferred * 3-10 years' experience in computer and storage hardware. * Strong communication skills working across teams and organizations * Strong lab capabilities with validation protocol with test plan creation and execution.
