Job Description Summary

Job Description
Responsible for the overall leadership for the security department and ensures compliance with our overall security plan and procedures. Participates in security investigations and recommends mitigation strategies.

Essential Functions:
1.Responsible for the overall leadership for the Security department including setting priorities, day to day responsibilities, and issue resolution. Ensures compliance with security operations plan and procedures.
2.Interviews, hires, trains and manages security team. Reviews and evaluates performance providing mentoring, coaching, and support
3.Develop, review, revise policies, systems, and procedures to ensure appropriate and up to date
security plan for the organization.
4.Participates in investigations, appropriately documents incidents related to security and reviews
incident events submitted by others and recommends mitigation strategies.
5.Collaborates with local, state and national agencies related to hospital security investigations.
Assists first responders in event of security needs related to medical emergency.
6.Reports any safety concerns, fire hazards, security violations, or illegal activity to leadership and
works to mitigate the risk.
7.Able to use varying de-escalation methods to neutralize/control the situation including relocation,
neutral tone and body language, be empathetic, avoid over-reacting.
8.May utilize Conducted Electical Weapon (eg. Taser) to control a violent or potentially violent
individual to prevent self harm or harm to others, minimizing the risk of serious injury
9.May utilize Armed Weapon in the most extreme circumstances when other options have failed or
are not viable options to neutralize/control the situation. Record all incidents of Conducted
Electrical Weapon or Armed Weapon usage to leadership.
Additional Job Description
Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of security experience or Associate's Degree with 7 years with progressive leadership experience. SLED certified or certification within 6 months of hire including Qualification Armed portion at a shooting range.
Related security experience may include Law Enforcement, Military or ROTC experience. Must have valid SCDL.
