This position leads Cray's Supply Chain organization. Responsible for making sure Cray procures'best value' for products and services that meets commited deliver requirements that are utilized for customers and used internally.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement supply chain vision, goals and strategies to support business objectives, enable profitable growth, and position the company's supply chain as a competitive advantage across multiple Cray areas and teams design engineering, high-value parts & value-added outsouring and relationships, manufacturing production purchasing, internal corporate product and service procurement, and contracting and procurement contract management.
Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, planning and quality control of prototype materials, production materials, corporate purchases, and subcontracts. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Ensures the availability of materials in the supply chain are provided as scheduled. Coordinates with materials management, and where appropriate, with senior management on inventory target levels. Responsible for sourcing and supplying raw materials, utilities and outside services, as well coordinating global procurement efforts. Coordinates with finance/accounting and materials management on matters involving inventory risks and costs on significant purchases pior to issuing binding PO. Reviews and plans requirements for acceptable inventory. Responsible for understanding and complying with the Cray system of internal controls. May assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system. Works with suppliers and potentially customers in examining targeted inventory levels.
Selects, develops, evaluates and makes changes, as necessary, in practices and personnel to ensure team can, and is, excelling on its mission.
Process Improvement / Change Management: Identify, develop and implement supply chain processes, systems and behaviors that are consistent with our high integrity culture and long-term mission.
Reduce total delivered costs as acceptable delivery risk and quality.
Supply Collaboration to Collaborate: with Engineering and Manufacturing on many new product introduction processes; with Sales team; and, Sales Management and, where requested, customers to meet their needs, while managing business risks within agreed tolerances.
This position is responsible for being sure Supply Chain team understands and complies with Cray internal business and accounting controls; code of conduct and other policies. And, raises potential issues or questions, not just within their team, proactively and in a timely manner.
Minimum Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated management experience in a global organization manging a team of five or more employees.
Engineering degree with experience in Computer Science a plus.
10+ years of related experience, including at least 5 years with computer system and engineering services.
Demonstrated negotiation talens on a variety of significant procurements and strategic partner relationships.
Six Sigma/Lean experience (green/black belt preferred).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of supply chain principles, practices and techniques as applied to technical manufacturing.
Demonstrated ability to manage teams on complex projects.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple parallel projects with highly variable scopes.
Demonstrated leadership and communications skills, both verbal and written communication.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Planning, staffing, and budgeting experience.
Willing to travel both domestically and internationally, as needed, to support supply chain and business needs.
