Job Summary:

Examine, analyze, and interpret policies and procedures relevant to the student accounting area that involve cash receipts, banking and direct loan transactions, tuition accounts receivable, student insurance, and third party billing. Manage and maintain existing accounting systems, including directing the activities of the student accounting staff in the use of software.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related field and five years of related accounting or auditing experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of accounting systems, principles, and practices. Skill in the use of personal computers and related accounting software applications. Skill in the use of mathematics. Interpersonal skills. Management skills. Ability to analyze data and/or information. Ability to train, motivate, and supervise employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs all operations of the Office of Student Accounting inclusive of receipt of deposits, reconciliation of accounts, loan disbursements, tuition accounts receivables, student insurance, third party billing, general ledger posting, tax reporting and Website updates.

  • Supervises employees to include work allocation, training, evaluation and problem resolution.

  • Develops, implements, modifies and document record keeping and accounting systems.

  • Collaborates in the selection, design, testing and implementation of accounting software applications and systems.

  • Oversees receipt of deposits, approves cash sales and customer invoice tickets.

  • Directs all banking functions for cash reconciliation, ACH transactions and account reconciliation.

  • Manages the Direct Loan program inclusive of drawdowns, disbursements, and reports.

  • Directs the tuition accounts receivable function to maintain all charge items with appropriate revenue categories while monitoring for student activity to ensure proper account adjustments.

  • Directs administration of the student insurance plans.
