Position Description

The Director, Strategy and Business Development at BD MedMined will lead, coach and engage a cross functional team to deliver customer focused solutions in the alternative channels market to include payers, life science companies and government/non-profit organizations. This individual is responsible for developing and contributing to the Annual Strategic Plan within these market segments and is accountable for the global financial performance of the solutions tied to strategic plan commitments. This individual will also be responsible for developing revenue generating external partnerships as well as direct sales activity within the identified market segments.

Main Areas of Responsibilities

  • Supports the full life cycle of client engagements within identified market segments from lead development through contract execution and ongoing relationship management.

  • Creates and executes a sales pipeline that results in attainment of revenue targets

  • Delivers on growth strategies as outlined in the Annual Strategic Review process

  • Provides strategic direction for the organization, which leads to increased customer engagement, market share and profits

  • Identifies and develops profitable relationships with partner organizations

  • Own governance of identified partnerships, including executive alignment & quarterly business reviews

  • Responsible for building relationships with key decision makers and accountable for maintaining very high levels of customer satisfaction in both channel and direct sell accounts

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge of the customer's business to develop optimal solutions

  • Strategic thinker with a strong technical background and able to blend technology and business strategies to develop compelling joint solutions and/or GTM plans

  • Proven record of driving revenue via VARs and other such related partner programs

  • Employ consultative selling approach with customers in order to identify research categories and data driven solutions

  • Develop a revenue generating business pipeline and execute a strategic selling plan which results in a signed contract between the prospect and company

  • Initiate sales process by prospecting, scheduling appointments, understanding business needs, making initial presentation, developing proposals and closing sales

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the customer's business, financial needs, and strategy

  • Develop and implement customer development penetration strategies within new and current customers, with National Director and Director of Clinical Specialty when appropriate, to obtain annual quota and revenue targets

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience selling data solutions into life science organizations

  • At least 15 years of sales or business development experience

  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time to include both domestic and international travel

  • Proven product/solution knowledge in laboratory, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, Infectious disease or a related research area

  • Strong negotiation experience

  • Must possess a strong business acumen and presentation skills

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field required
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

This position will utilize advanced prospecting skills, an outstanding communication competency and vast relationship resources to ensure that the Transport America is growing profitably at or above aggressive plans. In addition, this role is also responsible to support and represent other Transport America Business units such as OTR, Teams and Brokerage as they prospect in the Dedicated Fleet space. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES: * This leader will excel at providing client focused Dedicated solutions that reduce shipper costs, drive continuous improvement and provide flexible on-demand capacity * Sell directly to domestic and international accounts, and will be interfacing with a varied range of shippers. This will include many types of services: closed loop networks, private fleet conversions and unique equipment opportunities * Create short and long-term strategies for enhanced market penetration and increased revenue through new customer acquisition and creative solutions * Act as the voice of the customer by working closely with the Dedicated Operations Teams to deliver the optimal guaranteed capacity solutions * Work to broaden and expand existing relationships in an effort to be more competitive and gain market share and improve profitability * Identify new market opportunities based on customer needs * Utilize market intelligence, strategic planning and relationship building initiatives to ensure that the company is building a sustainable competitive advantage among its competitors * Track metrics and use CRM to measure progress and success * Follow company-wide Business Development practices to ensure organizational alignment * Be instrumental in building a culture that is team-oriented and is committed to alignment, creativity and winning * Lead as a Transport America advocate to both internal and external parties * Maintain a spirit of continuous improvement, determination and positivity REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES: * A Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) is required * A minimum of 6+ years Dedicated Transportation sales experience and relevant industry experience in positions of increasing authority. Trucking Industry experience preferred. Requires a track record of growing market share and exceeding sales goals * Proven track record of profitable revenue growth that support company strategic plans and short-term sales plans * Proven sales success through solutions based selling; Recognized effectiveness building solid relationships * Proven skills in increasing sales, prospecting, relationship management, communications, market intelligence and the accompanying metrics, analysis and reporting of results * Demonstrated skills in leadership, initiative and reliability * Must have good working knowledge of MS Office; prior experience using CRM and PowerPoint a plus * Projects a strong positive image that conveys confidence to customers * An unquestioned work ethic, willingness to "roll up your sleeves" and work closely with colleagues and team members * Strong presentation, business writing, and superior verbal communication skills * Ability to collaborate equally well with company leadership, peers, employees and customers * Exceptional decision-making skills, sound judgment, and the ability to effectively manage escalations and time critical issues with poise * An unwavering commitment to ethics with the highest levels of integrity coupled with a focus on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction * The position requires visits to key customers and attendance at trade shows, requiring 40%-50% travel EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disabled/E-Verify & Drug-Free Employer Transport Corporation Of America, Inc.
