This newly created position will be a key partner to the Global Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in providing analytical and strategic financial support for our rapidly expanding Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the annual Long-Range Planning Process (LRP), maintaining Company-wide financial models and be responsible for creating models to support business cases and investment decisions used in driving strategy for the Business. We are looking to continue to build out a best-in-class FP&A Team to support a global organization with improved analytical capabilities and financial models for strategic decision making. The successful candidate will also be the financial business partner for each of our programs in the Severe Genetic Disease Franchise

About the role:

  • Lead the Company Long-Range Planning Process

  • Create a standardized approach to creating business cases for investment decisions

  • Work collaboratively with the Business Development team on evaluating new business opportunities

  • Own and enhance our internal valuation models

  • Prepare presentations for Key internal stakeholders

  • Be the financial business partner for the programs in the Severe Genetic Disease Franchise


  • Bachelor's Degree required; MBA highly desirable

  • Significant prior experience with financial modeling is required

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years relevant experience

  • Previous investment banking experience a plus

  • Exceptional MS Excel skills

  • Hyperion Planning experience highly desired

  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Proven track record being highly collaborative

In support of our rapidly expanding portfolio, Alnylam has a vision to create an industry-leading strategic analytics capability that seamlessly integrates project and asset strategy with portfolio management and long-range planning. The Business Planning & Analysis group works closely with our Program Teams, providing decision analysis-based strategic support for business cases that maximize the lifetime value of the asset. The BP&A analysts also serve as the financial manager of the Team, working with Team leadership to develop the 3-year investment plan and manage spend against plan in partnership with Financial Planning & Analysis. The financial data and strategic insight generated by the BP&A team integrates with the portfolio and long-range planning analytics led by the Strategy group to provide senior leadership with a broad and deep understanding of the business. Reporting to the VP, Head of Strategy/BP&A, the Senior Director, Head of Business Planning & Analysis will be responsible for providing analytical leadership for this developing capability, ensuring it delivers high-quality, actionable strategic insights in a fit-for-purpose manner. This passionate leader will advance organizational understanding of the methodology and capability while developing the holistic skillset of team members. The Head of BP&A will also act as a thought partner to the VP Head of Strategy to achieve the vision of an industry-leading integrated analytics capability that provides a sophisticated and robust view of future performance across a range of outcomes, with clearly identified risks and potential inflection points.
