A day in the life

Our Strategic Capital accounting team is responsible for the consolidation, financial statement preparation and external reporting of large multi-billion dollar ventures formed in the United States. As the Director, Strategic Capital Reporting, you will be responsible for leading the U.S. strategic capital reporting team, including reporting for two multi-billion dollar funds that report under U.S. GAAP and IFRS and numerous joint venture partnerships. You will be given the opportunity to interact with various internal teams in a complex and fast-paced environment. You should have a background in real estate fund financial reporting, demonstrated leadership ability, demonstrated ability to grow and develop a strong team, and superior decision-making analysis skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead in a global role reporting to senior Accounting leadership and work alongside leaders of the U.S. and global financial reporting and corporate accounting teams

  • Oversee and lead all internal and external financial reporting for U.S. strategic capital reporting. This includes two multi-billion dollar funds that report under U.S. GAAP and IFRS and numerous joint venture partnerships.

  • Oversee the timely and accurate accounting for and reporting of funds and ventures on a monthly and quarterly basis, which includes review of the consolidated financial statements, Net Asset Value (NAV) and fair value reporting, and quarterly external reports

  • Responsible for partnering with fund management and legal on partnership documents for new funds or revisions to existing fund documents.

  • Lead additional financial reporting as needed, including additional reporting for public debt offerings by the funds

  • Be a primary point of contact for the funds and certain JVs in the US, and work with corporate accounting teams to ensure that fund and JV transactions are also appropriately accounted for and reported by Prologis.

  • Take a leadership role in collaborating with operations, finance, FP&A, tax and legal to execute and understand transactions impacting the funds and joint ventures (acquisitions, dispositions, formation of ventures, etc) in order to ensure appropriate reporting for these transactions, and to support consolidated financial reporting and budgeting/forecasting for the transactions.

  • Lead the strategic capital reporting team in collaborating with the global accounting and reporting teams on initiatives around automating and streamlining reporting processes.

  • Lead and oversee a team of 6+ (direct and indirect reports). Responsible for overseeing and reviewing the team's work, as well as the training and development of all team members. Also responsible for cultivating and maintaining a great team culture.

  • Be an exceptional business partner to fund management and various other departments, build strong relationships with partners/ investors and support external auditors

  • Special projects as needed for senior management

  • Make suggested improvements to existing processes and assist with implementation

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university

  • 10+ total years of financial reporting experience for large companies, with prior lead roles in this area

  • Combination of public accounting experience and/ or relevant real estate fund experience required (5+ years required in leadership role)

  • CPA license required

  • Ability to apply U.S. GAAP and IFRS standards extensively to financial statement areas as well as in preparation of financial statements

  • Proven leadership skills, including developing and growing team members. Supervisory experience required.

  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with broad group of stakeholders to foster trust and influence key decisions

  • Thrives in ambiguity and change, while delivering results under difficult or complex conditions and demonstrates balanced judgement and strategic thinking under pressure

  • Independently identify and implement strategic goals for strategic capital reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and agile environment, to prioritize and manage multiple assignments, and to find solutions for new or unexpected challenges

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to confidently, clearly and concisely communicate issues and suggested resolutions with leadership and internal and external audiences

  • Drives and manages department-level issues to completion with accounting and cross-functional leadership

  • Able to make decisions individually and be accountable for those decisions, but also knows when to involve leadership

  • Strong initiative / demonstrates leadership in meetings, is viewed as a leader by the global accounting team, and is a credible representative of accounting outside the accounting department

  • Consistently demonstrates the Accounting Leadership principles

  • Employs advanced theoretical understanding of assigned areas, relevant accounting principles, and the business to solve problems. Utilizes advanced knowledge to contribute to the development of critical projects and objectives for the department.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate processes and identify and implement process enhancements

  • Customer service focus with demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner with multiple departments on multiple projects

  • Positive, proactive work ethic and approach

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Show tact, discretion, confidentiality and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential matters and documentation

Hiring Salary Range of: $148,000 - $180,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target & LTI) to be determined by the candidate's location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
