Director, Specialized Sales Organization, Solutions Architecture
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for an experienced and motivated customer facing role to coach, grow, and partner with technically skilled, customer-facing Solutions Architects (SA). You will help develop the industry's best cloud-based solutions architects by enabling and coaching them on best practices, solution selling, presentation and speaking skills, as well as how to create and present architectures of widely varying size and complexity. This role is responsible for the collaborative leadership of the Solutions Architecture organization within the Specialized Sales Organization (SSO) world-wide for AWS. In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. Furthermore, providing thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the value technology creates for our customers, and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role. You will be responsible for leading the SSO SA organization globally, being part of the SSO leadership team and a member of the world-wide SA core leadership team. You will also be working across multiple teams in AWS ranging from sales organizations through to engineering teams building services. This is a leader of leaders' role.

Roles and Responsibilities
Managing the SA teams within the SSO. Representing the SSO within the SA core worldwide team.
Hiring of key SA leadership roles across teams, ensuring we have the right people in the right locations globally with the right skills.
Educate customers and partners on the value proposition of AWS, participate in customer meetings as well as public speaking at industry events
Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS SA community
Guide and motivate the development of whitepapers, data sheets, and other high-value customer facing guidance and best practices
Serve as the AWS executive technical sponsor for strategic customer initiatives
Act as a conduit and liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support
10+ years design/implementation/consulting experience of distributed applications
7+ years management of technical, customer facing resources
5+ years management experience in leading distributed teams across multiple geographies
Working knowledge of software development tools and methodologies
Modern cloud platform skills
Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
History of successful technical consulting and/or architecture engagements with large-scale customers or enterprises
Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with executives, IT Management, and developers.
Strong written communication skills
High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
AWS Solution Architecture certification or relevant cloud expertise
Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly
