As a director of foundation software engineering team, you will apply your knowledge of technology, management, software development methodologies, best practices, and modern processes to deliver quality software products on budget, within a planned schedule and with superb quality. This specific position will manage a team of software engineers which focuses on building a platform for a plethora of GE Power applications.
The mission-critical applications manage multiple aspects of power grids for many utilities across the globe.
Demonstrate exceptional strong technical leadership and people management skills
Be responsible for building a world class software development team to support building of the platform for GE power application suite
Together with product management and other teams, define strategy, design and execute delivery of the platform components on schedule
Align with cross-functional service team owners to understand initiatives and implementations, influencing decision-making through active partnership
Own and manage the multiple rapid prototyping and product development budgets
Quickly define and deliver working software prototypes
Work with product owners across the businesses to understand market needs & vision
Work directly with customers to understand business and technical needs
Drive increased efficiency across the teams
Drive world-class quality in the development and support of products
Keep project financials and tracking current
Deliver a resource strategy and plans, including use of 3rd parties/partners, etc., in support of development and support activities
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 15 years of technical experience along with established leadership credentials across product lines.

Demonstrated ability to deliver modern mission-critical software components at scale. Hands-on experience in designing and building mission-critical highly available microservices, container-based systems
Recognizes patterns and complexity. Plans on how to execute programs and protect against risk
Defines product vision. Lays out product roadmap. Maps current requirements to industry trends, analyses competition trends
Prioritizes projects based on an assessment of competitive needs
Advocates new technology, predicts trends, and identifies new opportunities based on trends
Creates a culture of customer focus and high performance to drive innovation
Continuously reflecting on success and failures to improve performance and decision-making. Understands when change is needed
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
Identifies how the cost of change weighs against the benefits and advises accordingly
Proactively creates new solutions and processes to address seemingly unanswerable problems
Takes on technical challenges and directs the team to achieve a high level of understanding of the platform and industrial use cases
