Director, Social Media

As the Director, Social Media, you will be our right hand, working closely and reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Head of Social Media to develop and implement a winning social media strategy across all Expedia Group brands globally. You will have the opportunity to lead a talented team of social media strategists and specialists, ensuring our social presence is engaging, inspiring, and drives business results.

What You'll Do:

  • Partner with the Global Head of Social Media to develop, implement, and operationalize a comprehensive social media strategy across our brands, aligned with Expedia Group's overall business goals

  • Oversee, manage, and develop strong strategic recommendations on the day-to-day implementation of the social media strategy and BAU content across Expedia Group's brands and platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, LinkedIn, etc.) to build stronger social communities

  • Create consistency and rigor across social for Expedia Group's portfolio of brands

  • Lead and mentor a team of social media strategists, inspiring, building, and fostering a collaborative and creative environment across the team

  • Manage operations of a best-in-class social organization that inspires travel globally, regionally and locally

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest social media trends and identify opportunities to leverage new platforms and features, particularly those relevant to specific regional/local audiences

  • Track and analyze social media performance metrics, including paid boosting social campaign performance, identifying areas for improvement and reporting on key results

  • Manage social media budgets and resources effectively, with a keen understanding of optimizing spend across diverse markets and business units

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships cross-functional partners to deliver business results

Who You Are:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in social media marketing, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role

  • Minimum 5 years managing and leading large global teams

  • Have strategy and execution experience running Social at global brands that have a clear voice in social, and where social an important driver of the way is a brand goes to market

  • In-depth knowledge of major social media platforms and best practices, including paid boosting advertising strategies, and campaign and community management

  • Inherent understanding of Internet culture, social demographics, how to build community, and know how to show up on social in an authentic way

  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting tools, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies

  • Passion for travel and the tourism industry, with a keen understanding of regional and local market social landscapes

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • A strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute complex plans

  • Proven ability to manage high-performing social media teams

  • Experience with influencer marketing, particularly within the travel industry a plus

  • Fluency in multiple languages a plus

The total cash range for this position in West Hollywood is $196,000.00 to $274,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $313,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
