Responsible for the overall administration and operation of the Sexual Aggression Services Office, including the coordination of the Sexual Aggression Peer Advocate (SAPA) program. Provides sexual aggression programming, consultation for individuals impacted by sexual aggression, and supervision of staff. This position will also be instrumental in the development of a new peer education program. Peer educators will provide programming and outreach related to student wellness and belonging.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in counseling, social work, or another related field.

Limited license in the State of Michigan.

Knowledge of laws and university policies related to sexual aggression, Title IX, Campus SAVE, etc.

Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.

Ability to perform essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Full licensure in the State of Michigan.

Direct experience with a university sexual aggression advocacy program.

Experience with peer support/peer education.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provides direct oversight and the advisement and supervision of the para-professional peer advocacy program, SAPA (Sexual Aggression Peer Advocates) including:

Supervision of SAPA advocates

Coordinates the 24/7 on-call schedule for SAPA crisis services

Coordinates the SAPA advocate selection process

Coordinates and implements annual trainings for all SAPA advocates

Documents relevant statistical information pertaining to SAPA crisis services, educational programs, outreach events, and SAPA advocate semester hours

Available 24/7 as a resource for SAPA advocates while crisis services are in operation

Coordinates all SAPA related meetings

Coordinates annual SAPA retreat and SAPA banquet

Collaborates with SAPA alumni for trainings, interviews, events, fundraising, etc.

Coordinates and oversees all SAPA related communications (publications, media releases, social media, and website)

Oversees all functions and operations of the Office of Sexual Aggression Services and the peer education program (procedures, budget, staff selection, etc.)

Maintains a license to provide confidential mental health services in the State of Michigan and meets any related professional development requirements for that license.

Provides confidential support, consultation, advocacy, options, resources, and information to CMU students, faculty, staff, and alumni who have been affected by domestic violence, harassment, intimate partner violence, sexual assault and/or stalking.

Collaborates with campus partners, leaders, and community organizations on and off campus to develop and maintain an innovative, coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to providing survivor centered services, education, and risk reduction programming.

Oversees and coordinates the production and performance of orientation programming related to sexual aggression for the campus community.

Provides supervision of the SAPA Dedicated Counselor/Assistant Director in collaboration with the Counseling Center Director.

Select, train, and supervise the SAPA Graduate Assistant in conjunction with the SAPA Dedicated Counselor/Assistant Director.
