The Investment Manager Services Unit (IMS) is growing rapidly and is seeking new members on our Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) team. Our primary goal is to provide exceptional back office solutions to investment managers.
The Separately Managed Accounts (SMA) team supports investment managers processing needs by undertaking the critical role of back and middle office support; aid investment manager's platform and technology requirements by supporting or offering leading platforms; and provide a breadth of additional services to sustain and benefit the manager. As the Director, you are responsible for supporting the SMA Outsourcing Service initiatives. This multifaceted position will require a solid understanding of all aspects of the Investment Management Operational process.
SEI's broad industry expertise and comprehensive range of capabilities enable us to create an end-to-end operating solution that is customized to fit managers' products, existing systems and the client experience they want to deliver.
The Director will to lead all day-to-day operational activities that support SEI's middle-office services. This is a new position within the unit that is the result of substantial growth and that will allow the incumbent director to focus on bringing new clients onto SEI's platform, executing strategic initiatives to enhance the existing platform and overseeing the unit's client service team.
Reporting to the Sr Director for middle-office services, this multifaceted position will require a solid understanding of all aspects of the investment management operational process. You will have a successful track record for taking ownership of operational activities, ensuring deadlines are met and maintaining an operational environment that adheres to agreed policies and procedures. These responsibilities are to be carried out in a manner consistent with the vision, goals and policies of the unit. The Director has operational ownership and leadership for a bundle of service relationships and will be expected to work with the unit's Senior Operations Officers, other Directors and unit personnel; the product and market units; and external clients to coordinate, facilitate and is expected to execute on the delivery of a cost-focused, efficient, standardized and predictable service to the respective marketplace.
You will manage the operations and be responsible for implementation and process improvement. You will develop and enhance client relationships. In addition, you will be responsible for growing new business and marketing services.
What you'll do:
' You will understand, communicate and resolve unique client issues in tandem with SEI Relationship Teams
' You will ensure the overall quality and delivery services in accordance with client-specific service model
' You will serve as senior technical and operational resource for client
' You will identify, interpret, apply and communicate accounting and industry rules and regulations
' You will identify trends in the investment management business and adjust operational services accordingly
' You will create, communicate, monitor and reinforce departmental vision, goals and objectives
' You will actively participate in regular senior management meetings and initiatives
' You will participate in management skills training and development of staff
' You will set and enforce departmental policies
' You will develop and communicate goals and objectives for the team, and formulate specific action plans. Periodically review prioritization of team goals and objectives and monitor progress regularly.
' You will conduct performance appraisals, monthly one-on-ones with the team analysts and supervisors and provide career pathing and training. You will also ensure staffing requirements are met by participating in interviews and hiring processes. You will provide and foster a team environment to include individual development, promotions and disciplinary action.
' You will participate in or lead departmental projects as applicable

' You will write and coordinate fund accounting-related responses to RFP's and RFI'sWhat you bring to the table:
' BA / BS in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics or equivalent professional experience.
' Minimum 10 years of industry experience, SMA preferred within an investment management operations background and proven operations management experience leading multiple teams in a changing environment.
' Significant direct, relevant experience with accounting for mutual funds and other unitized pooled investment vehicles.
' Deep functional knowledge of operational processes, procedures and issue resolution within an investment management firm across global equity and fixed-income instruments.
' Proven track record of successfully managing operational teams or departments.
' Demonstrated ability to initiate process changes to improve service to clients and improve operational efficiency.
' Proven ability to manage staff development and performance.
' Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, along with the analytical skills needed to identify problems and trends.
