POSITION: Director, Security Operations
In the rapidly changing world of cybersecurity, there is never a dull moment for an innovative, inspiring and get-it-done leader. As the Trusted Foundation for our customers' digital ambitions, the Director of Security Operations ensures we deliver on our customer commitments. This is not a role for the just any leader. This individual must be able to lead a team of security experts, help build a culture of security across a global organization and protect one of the largest datacenter footprints in the world. We cannot stop there; this leader must be prepared to be a thought leader across our industry and demonstrate outstanding cybersecurity expertise to customers, partners and industry peers. Reporting directly to the SVP & Chief Information Security Officer, the Director is a critical member of the Operations leadership team.
Minimum 10+ years of leadership experience in IT Security, cybersecurity, IT Audit or related are required
Technology background that includes experience serving as CISO or Head of Cyber Security function
Demonstrated experience with large-scale M&A activities in assessing security risks and exposure
Proven experience building credibility and collaborating with senior business leaders to assess organizational challenges, institute prioritization and deliver results.
Understand how to build organizational capability and can develop and build a team; ensure the right people are in place to accomplish the organization's goals; dynamic leader that motivates others such that individual and team performance exceed the sum of the parts.

Competent in IT risk assessment and management, IT continuity management, IT governance formulation, and organizational change management
Working knowledge of IT financial management and IT audit
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to train security concepts to all areas of the business
Strong people leadership and management skills
Fosters and builds a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders

Expert in information security policy formulation, information security management, and business risk management
Professional experience in running the information security office analyzing and applying information security, risk management, and privacy practices
Extensive experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and allocation
Consulting and general industry experience
Experience in law enforcement and/or national security is highly relevant
Knowledge of national and international regulatory compliances and frameworks such as GDPR, GLBA, ISO, SOX, BASEL II, EU DPD, HIPAA, NIST, FISMA, CobiT, ISF and PCI DSS
Experience with secure coding standards, ethical hacking techniques, IDS/IPS, SIEM
Bachelor's degree in either Information Security, Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or related field or equivalent work experience
Master's degree or MBA preferred
CISSP, CISM, CISA, CSSLP, CCFP, PMP and other cybersecurity credentials
You'll be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing policies, standards, and procedures to safeguard information systems and data. You will be tasked with developing, communicating and enforcing enterprise-wide security policies, procedures, standards and best practices, and helping business application teams integrate sound security components into their systems. Your responsibilities will fall under three key areas:
Problem Management -- implementing improved methods and tools for troubleshooting and researching problems.
Process Management -- building out a world class cybersecurity services and systems framework. You'll review our current functions and implement process improvements.
Project Management -- directing a wide range of Security projects, providing managerial, technical administrative direction and support to ensure project objectives are met.
Additionally, you will:
Help business units understand and establish acceptable levels of risk, and proactively reduce the potential for incidents that pose security threats.
Evaluate and deploy effective technical solutions and reject technical offerings that do not add business value.
Collect and report performance metrics in a way that supports the business value of strong security.
Respond quickly and effectively to new threats and vulnerabilities.
Develop and manage effective recovery plans that ensure the responsiveness of critical applications during natural disasters or other interruptions in primary service.
Protect data privacy and information integrity in response to business needs and compliance requirements.
Design incident response best practices including:
The enterprise's initial response to a security breach or other incident.
Implementing measures to prevent further damage.
Developing relations with responsible legal, regulatory and government authorities.
Interfacing with the Legal department during incidents and forensics planning.
Providing public relations support.
Be responsible for 405 Compliance on IT Controls.
Delegate key deliverables to Senior Managers with discipline against project milestones and against key target dates.
Mentor and discipline result oriented behaviors with proper peer vetting.
Manage escalations, signoffs and agreements upward effectively so alignment and communication can be shared with key executives.
Interface with companies considering Digital Realty regarding security concerns, as needed.

To be successful in this position, you'll need the depth of knowledge and the confidence to come in and review the systems we have in place, and then augment them in order to ensure an optimal security environment. You'll be a skilled strategist who will take a proactive, rather than reactive, approach, but also have your head in the "black and white" truths of security management.
To be an outstanding Director, Information Security, you'll need to be a thought leader with superb influencing skills and interpersonal finesse, who delivers as an expert. It's important to note, that this is not just traditional security. You're not securing credit card data, or order desk information; you're protecting the foundation of the cloud.
