ROLE SUMMARY:

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our Accounting team.

Reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller, this role oversees a growing team of five accounting professionals (including our revenue accounting team). You will be responsible for leading the technical accounting function, including SEC reporting and the corporate SOX program, and continually improving the procedures, processes, and systems to enable Quanterix to meet operational, reporting, and audit requirements as the Company grows. This is a unique position, offering greater breadth and career opportunity than traditional accounting roles. This position also works with finance leadership to drive organizational strategies impacting the financial statements. You will also act as a partner not only to internal business leaders, but also to external auditors and regulatory agencies.

This role is flexible and can be hybrid or fully remote (with occasional travel, optional 1 time per quarter for approximately 2 days to our Billerica, MA office to take part in department/cross-functional meetings and team building activities).

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manage the SEC financial reporting process involving the preparation and review of the Company's Forms 10-Q and 10-K, and related SEC filings (including 8-K's, S-8, and proxy statements), managing a team of SEC and technical accountants (two FTEs), and working closely with other functions as needed

  • Responsible for reviewing the financial statements (including the consolidated cash flow statement workbook), footnotes and MD&A, and GAAP disclosure checklists

  • Proactively research current trends in external reporting and perform peer benchmarking to make recommendations that strengthen the company's SEC filings and ensure compliance with SEC and GAAP disclosure requirements

  • Manage accounting for stock-based compensation in compliance with ASC 718, including reviewing valuation assumptions in collaboration with Payroll and Equity Administration

  • Review analysis of quarterly basic and diluted shares for EPS calculations

  • Oversee the team's preparation of all external audit requests throughout the quarterly reviews and annual audit

  • Lead initiatives to make the record to report cycle more efficient, effective, and to reduce time to complete

  • Provide guidance and oversight to the revenue accounting team (three FTEs); review non-standard customer contracts and amendments to ensure appropriate revenue recognition treatment under ASC 606, and review revenue and indirect tax reconciliations and analyses

  • Collaborate with the sales and legal teams to provide guidance on contract structure to achieve desired business outcomes and optimized revenue recognition

Internal Controls Over Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the corporate SOX program, in collaboration with the company's internal audit partners, including risk assessment, design assessment, walkthroughs and documentation, testing of internal controls, and corporate governance for business processes and ITCG

  • Review new process and systems initiatives, along with existing processes, from a controls perspective; optimize the current controls testing, monitoring, and reporting processes, and recommend improvements / rationalization to existing policies and procedures

  • Review and assess third party SOC reports through documentation of responses to user controls to ensure continued reliance on these reports

  • Evaluate control deficiencies for impact and perform root cause analysis to determine appropriate management actions. Monitor management's remediation efforts to closure, including review of supporting evidence. Drive and support the control owner's remediation activities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 12+ years of experience or a Master's degree in accounting or finance with 10+ years of experience
  • CPA license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates with life sciences industry background

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in an audit / assurance role at a 'Big 4' public accounting firm with SEC clients

  • 8+ years of experience in SEC reporting and technical accounting roles

  • 6+ years of experience overseeing internal controls over financial reporting (SOX)

  • Experience working with (or in) publicly traded, global companies

  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SOX and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with research and preparation of accounting position papers for complex transactions and general corporate matters

  • Demonstrated ability leading and developing a team of at least five accountants

  • Experience with Workiva, FloQast, and Shareworks

  • Proficiency required in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
