The University of Texas Permian Basin's Department of Student Success welcomes applications for the position of Director of Student Disability Services

Salary Range

$53,000.00 depending on qualifications

Essential Functions

The position ensures adherence to compliance requirements in support of the local, state, federal, UT System and UTPB policies for the Americans with Disabilities Act. They will serve as a point of contact, support provider, and processing administrator for all academic accommodations and disability services as required under ADA.

Moreover, this position will be responsible for keeping up with all changes to ADA requirements and serve to mediate all issues arising from accommodations. They will also work with the Success Center and other university offices to supply students with the support they need to reach their academic goals.

1.Responsible for compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act for students needing a reasonable accommodation.

2.Work with the appropriate offices (to include, but not limited to academic affairs, faculty, facilities, housing, and Dean of Students) to ensure that the approved accommodations for the student are implemented in a timely manner.

3.Promotes awareness and educational events and activities related to SB212, Title IX, ADA, for Students/Section 50, and general compliance

4.Attends various trainings, meetings, and/or conferences related to topics covering Civil Rights, Investigations, SB 212, Title IX, ADA, and general compliance

Required Qualifications

1.Bachelor's degree

2.Two (2) years of experience providing support services to students at the college or university-level.

3.Familiarity with ADA laws/policies, section 504, general university compliance.

4.Federal and State law knowledge.

5.Demonstrated experience effectively dealing with sensory and complex issues.

Preferred Qualifications

1.Master's degree

2.Two (2) years of experience assisting students with ADA requests.

3.Previous supervisory experience of full-time and part-time employees and student workers

Schedule

Generally, the normal work hours for the university are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 - 5:30 pm; Friday, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm with a one-hour lunch. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Hours worked may differ with some departments.

Standard Working Conditions

1.Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.

2.Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.

3.Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.

4.Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.

5.Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.

6.Standard working conditions may differ depending on department and occupation
