Job Summary:

The Director of Sales attains assigned short and long term sales goals within budget. The Director of Sales may manage and direct the activities of personnel engaged in sales activities, or serve as the lead on large, complex, and/or critical accounts, or both.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Sales is responsible for duties that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drive revenue and gross margin growth. Meet the sales plan for the year

  • Partner with management to develop short- to middle-term strategy and assess performance against it

  • Develops and executes comprehensive marketing, sales and service plans and programs to achieve assigned quota in support of the sales and revenue objectives of organization.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key community and strategic partners.

  • Conducts market assessment on current and new product concepts, and provides feedback for future product development.

  • Partner with peers inside and outside Telecom to solve operational problems to Telamon's advantage.

  • If managing direct reports:

  • Ensures all department standards and procedures are followed in an effort to meet or exceed global customer and industry requirements.

  • Ensures the proper training of staff.

  • Maintain capacity management plans for assigned teams, and recommend addition of contingent or regular staff to management as appropriate. Consult with peer managers to level utilization across sales management organization. Advise management of need to release contingent staff or bench regular employees.

  • May serve as the hiring manager for new hires.

  • Mentor and develop direct reports and identified high potential employees, managing training, performance evaluation, problem resolution and the building of an effective team dynamic.

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining robust communication with management regarding activities

  • Ability to effectively meet customer's needs, build productive internal and external stakeholder relationships, and take responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with stakeholders and senior business leadership of internal departments and customers

  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues and conflicts regardless of manager's authority (or lack thereof) with the involved parties

  • Ability to escalate to the appropriate person, at the appropriate time, and in the appropriate manner

  • Ability to manage multiple parallel initiatives

  • Ability to understand the financial impact of decisions on the profitability of the proposed initiatives

  • Proficiency with basic office and sales management software such as SalesForce.com

Personally and consistently model these values in everyday actions, encourage organization to practice these values and respectfully call out and discourage behavioral gaps that exist in the organization.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor Degree in Marketing, Management, or related field, plus 8 - 10 years of relevant sales, customer service, or operations experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Working knowledge of relevant clients, products, and services

  • Business experience relevant to the assigned accounts strongly preferred
