Purpose of Job (Briefly state the primary purpose of the job in terms of how it contributes to the departments objectives):

The Director for our Sales Center of Excellence will play a critical role in developing, training, and deploying best-in-class sales practices, processes, and tools. The director will be responsible for the overall effectiveness of the field and regional sales force in driving incremental new business for the Interstate Batteries System. The director will manage the training, tools, and materials/assets that will support the field sales organization.

Focus areas include:

  • Field sales planning, processes, and best practices

  • Sales performance management

  • Sales support tools

  • Sales training

Job Components (List the major job responsibilities and accountability in order of priority; include approximate percentage of time spent on each component):

  • (30%) Create and support broader COE team that will exceed expectations and work cross-functionally to help field salesforce achieve growth targets

  • (25%) Develop and maintain sales playbooks (best practices for sales and account management activities)

  • Innovate and test new sales plays for specific customer segments, situations, products, etc.

  • Drive and standardize sales process compliance/best practices

  • (20%) Create and lead a Sales Training Academy to continuously improve the competency and effectiveness of our salesforce

  • Develop training materials for each stage of the Academy

  • Deliver training in a highly efficient and productive way

  • (15%) Oversee the creation and maintenance of dashboards for sales performance management

  • Establish KPIs and targets for optimal activity and dealer conversion

  • (10%) Implement and continuously improve IB technologies/systems to increase sales efficiency

  • Help to enforce use of field sales tools and CRM

Qualifications (List experience, educational background, professional licenses, certifications and personal competencies required to perform the job):

  • BA/BS from an accredited university required

  • 5+ years of experience in sales and driving sales effectiveness

  • Experience in creating and delivering new initiatives

  • Experience with managing and reporting of sales data using CRM systems

  • Strong problem solving, influencing, conflict resolution and decision-making skills

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

  • Energetic and collaborative team player who feeds off accountability and achievement

  • A track record of building consensus and delivering high-impact results

  • Ability to support multiple projects and complex work streams

  • Fearless curiosity, ownership, and accountability

  • Exemplary communication skills (verbal, written and client facing presentation)

  • Full PC literacy including the customer relationship management system (SFDC) and MS office
