About the Role

As the Director of Revenue Accounting, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's revenue accounting function, including revenue accounting, and revenue systems. You will build and refine the end-to-end global processes for revenues, driving accuracy, data quality and efficiency across the Order to Collect/Record to Report cycles. Your expertise and leadership will play a pivotal role in building NinjaOne’s capabilities in this space, while ensuring that the revenue accounting function’s roadmap is aligned with the company’s overall strategic objectives and support its growth plans.

Location - We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and in one of the following states - TX, FL, CA, NC, GA, CT, ME, KS, CO, NJ or VA.  We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option. 

What You’ll be Doing

  • This position will act as the company's subject matter expert on revenue recognition issues, partnering with cross-functional teams, including during the development of new product lines.

  • This role will ensure the company's revenue recognition accounting policies are consistent with GAAP and are updated to address changes in product offerings.

  • Provide thought leadership and establish a long-term vision on the order-to-cash process for scalability and to meet the requirements of a pre-IPO and future public company.

  • Serve as the finance organization’s subject matter expert on revenue accounting and prepare clear technical accounting documentation timely on new issues, leveraging external resources to validate conclusions when required.

  • Collaborate on new initiatives; partner with Billing, Deal Desk, Legal and Technical Accounting Teams , as well as Sales, Engineering and Product to assess the impact on revenue recognition, operational impact, scalability, and business risk.

  • Develop, recommend, and/or drive innovative process improvements that leverage technology and maximize overall efficiency while maintaining or strengthening internal controls.

  • Be proactive in identifying and chasing down issues within revenue accounting, as well as providing timely updates and documentation through conclusion of these issues.

  • Prepare journal entries and approve journal entries.

  • Lead/participate in special projects as needed.

  • Manage the month-end and quarter-end revenue close process activities, including review of journal entries, review of account reconciliations and analysis.

  • Ensure SOX compliance of Revenue Cycle.

  • Other duties as needed.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.

  • CPA Preferred, Big 4 experience preferred.

  • 7+ years of Revenue experience with fast paced SaaS company.

  • In-depth knowledge of revenue recognition standards (ASC 606).

  • Demonstrated success in leading revenue accounting functions through rapid growth and expanding product offerings, with a proven ability to develop and execute effective strategies.

  • Expertise in subscription billing processes, systems, invoicing, and collections strategies.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business process transformation and change management.

  • Extensive experience in establishing and standardizing policies, processes, procedures, and controls that are SOX-compliant.

  • Detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills, with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and delve deep into processes and systems.

  • Familiarity with indirect tax regulations and compliance requirements, including GST, VAT, US sales & use tax

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, and SOX

  • Experience with NetSuite required experience with SuiteBilling is a plus.

  • Builds relationships with managers (up through C-Suite) to effectively coordinate and complete tasks in assigned area of responsibility.

Additional Information

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to location, market demands, experience, job-related knowledge, and skills. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage and PTO. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $185,000 per year.
