Summary:

The Director of Revenue & Cost Accounting will oversee all aspects of revenue and cost accounting functions at Powin. This role will be responsible for managing and providing guidance on revenue recognition, cost accounting, inventory management, and providing financial analysis. The Director will ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue and costs, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and providing strategic guidance to optimize revenue and cost management processes.

Job Details:

  • Oversee and manage the revenue and cost recognition process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards, regulations and guidelines

  • Ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition and cost accounting in accordance with US GAAP and SEC regulations, including monthly close procedures, with a firm understanding of the revenue recognition standards

  • Implement and maintain cost accounting practices to accurately capture, track, and report costs associated with energy storage projects, service contracts, warranties and other identified programs

  • Develop and maintain financial models for revenue, cost and margin analysis for energy storage projects, providing insights and recommendations for optimizing financial performance

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to monitor and manage project budgets, forecasts and actuals

  • Direct and manage the development, implementation and adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls relating to revenue and cost accounting, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting

  • Provide strategic financial inputs and analysis to inform decision-making

  • Participate in the design and implementation of financial systems and tools to drive continuous improvement in revenue and cost accounting processes

  • Develop and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams, partners and external stakeholders

  • Mentor, supervise and develop members of the accounting and finance team to ensure a high level of efficiency and expertise in revenue and cost accounting practices

  • Oversight of Key Deliverables including:

  • Revenue & Cost Workbooks

  • Account Reconciliations

  • Project Specific Summary & Analysis

  • Relevant Month and Quarter End Financial Commentary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MAcc) is a plus

  • CPA certification is required

  • 8+ years of relevant accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably in the energy or energy storage industry

  • 5+ years progressive managerial experience

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, including ASC 606 and other relevant accounting standards

  • Proven experience in revenue recognition and cost accounting practices for energy storage projects

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with NetSuite ERP system a plus

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to develop and manage teams

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively

  • Self-driven and self-sufficient in identifying and resolving complex issues as they arise

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts to non-accounting colleagues
