POSITION INFORMATION


Role Summary
The Director Retirement Services contributes to Alaska Airlines success by developing and delivering retirement benefit programs from design to delivery. The successful candidate has pension and 401(k) leadership experience, including the ability to interpret procedures and policies in accordance with ERISA, HIPAA, DOL, IRS, plan documents, summary plan descriptions, and other organizational rules. This Director analyses and implements retirement benefit changes as directed by Alaska leadership.

Scope & Complexity

  • This leadership role directs retirement services initiatives and activities for Alaska Airlines. This Director frequently interfaces with senior leadership, legal counsel, consultants, and actuaries on pension and 401(k) issues. The Director will assess operational effectiveness and recommend changes or process improvements.

Key Duties

  • Designs, develops, and prepares plans to deliver successful implementations of pension and retirement benefits.

  • Contributes to and leads analyses, assessments, and designs of company retirement and pension programs.

  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures for pension and retirement benefits.

  • Interprets and administers policies and procedures in accordance with ERISA, HIPAA, DOL, IRS, plan documents, SPDs and other organization rules.

  • Consults with end users to develop requirements for programs, policies, communications, and to develop effective delivery methods to meet end user requirements.

  • Communicates and guides planning and implementation activities to support the adoption of program or process changes.

  • Reviews, analyzes, and implements program changes, ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Uses data trends and metrics to assess performance to deliver improvements.

  • Participates in special projects and serves as project lead for deploying key initiatives and change management efforts for new programs and policies.

  • Fosters a culture of engagement, holds self and others accountable through trust and authentic relationships.

  • Promotes a high performance culture by cultivating and motivating direct/indirect reports through coaching, mentoring, and by providing regular and meaningful feedback.

  • Identifies and provides career development opportunities through developmental assignments and formal/informal training.

  • Ensures delivery of excellent customer service to Alaska's employees and retirees.

Job-Specific Skills & Education
Required

  • A Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.

  • A minimum of 6 years of pension benefit and defined contribution experience.

  • A minimum of 6 years of leadership or management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, developing, and deploying company-wide retirement benefit and pension programs.

  • Demonstrated experience using analytic/statistical techniques to determine and assess program utilization averages, medians, and standard deviations, perform trends analysis, and conduct cost forecasting for retirement, benefit, or reward program's ongoing operation, effectiveness, and enhancement.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ERISA and IRS regulations governing health and welfare plans.

  • Proven ability to leverage business acumen and analytic capability to position the organization as a critical business partner.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

GENERAL FUNCTION The Young Adult Services Transitional Housing Director is responsible for leading and managing Accelerator YMCA's Transitional Housing program. This position will report to the Housing Programs Director at Accelerator Y and work closely with the Directors and Supervisors within our Independent Living, Employment and Education, Anti-Violence and other Housing Programs ensuring the Accelerator Y's programmatic vision, philosophy, and approach are carried out by staff and volunteers in order to meet our mission of accelerating young people's ability to build safe, successful and happy lives. The Transitional Housing Director will be a leader in the continuous improvement of service delivery to our young adults housed through the Accelerator Y as well as our partner agencies and funders in King County.
