Purpose:

In the dynamic & continuously evolving business environment, this position is responsible for creating and maintaining sustainable, accurate and efficient accounting processes for our US legal entities directing all accounting activities and functions to ensure the integrity of the financial records. This includes, but is not limited to, project accounting lead, accounting process creation and review, internal and external audit liaison, oversight of financial records, financial statement preparation and liaison between Finance, the NAM Business and the Global Business Services (GBS) functions.

Key Responsibilities:

People Management

  • Manage the US accounting teams including training, recruiting, and planning of team resources.

  • Define performance targets and monitor employee performance. Ensure proper, meaningful, and timely performance reviews in compliance with company timelines

  • Ensure team members meet and/or exceed global & local business partner customer service expectations for financial accounting services.

  • Support and provide directional guidance towards our GBS organization

  • Engage in people management topics across NAM Corporate Finance as part of the NAM Corporate Finance leadership team.

  • Develop and actively drive a comprehensive job rotation program across NAM Corporate Finance

Partnership with Global and Local Finance Teams

  • Collaborate with local Finance and GBS across NAM to ensure overall NAM results are accurately reflected within the various locally & globally defined timelines.

  • Ongoing development of the team to deliver best in class accounting services, focusing on customer service, quality & accuracy of reporting, compliance, consistent reliability, defining KPI's and business partnering.

  • Manage and resolve any strategic accounting topics

  • As a member of the extended NAM FLT, collaborate cross functionally within and outside of Finance on relevant strategic objectives with the goal of further drive our NAM business

Accounting and Reporting

  • Own and manage our legal financial statements across all US based legal entities

  • Manage, control & implement all relevant accounting systems used for or to support accounting and financial reporting processes.

  • Oversee all closing activities and further develop & improve our internal closing procedures.

  • Design, maintain & further evolve our financial processes across NAM to ensure we successfully meeting both internal reporting as well as external audit requirements.

  • Implement & oversee procedures and processes to ensure that an appropriate level of quality control and management review is in place

  • Oversee and manage the analysis of our balance sheet and that such accounts are reconciled timely to underlying supporting documentation.

  • Monitor and reconcile the local financial statements with the parent company financial statements, noting any reporting differences.

  • Liaise with external auditors on local audits. Support our Internal Controls team with any Group Internal Audit topics including actual internal local audits.

  • Provide technical direction of accounting and financial reporting in accordance with Company policies, local tax, IFRS and U.S. GAAP policies.

  • Drive Standardization & Harmonization across NAM Accounting functions in accordance with local and global streamline efforts

  • Engage in any other relevant accounting topics and assignments as required.

Business Compliance (Controls)

  • Sponsor and implement the measures necessary to manage internal control risks, clearly communicating controls to the team and take any remedial action or adjust such controls as required.

  • Responsible for the business continuity plan

  • Responsible for documenting all new (and continuous validation of current) processes ensuring they are accurate and fit for purpose.

Project Management / Other

  • Take a leadership role in implementing best practices to improve and bolster service levels.

  • Drive overall effectiveness by thinking outside the box, driving continuously evolving processes & procedures, adapting to the new and role model change management across NAM

  • Support local and global teams on financial system integration projects and leading the accounting team's involvement in such projects.

  • Represent Corporate Finance in any strategic projects across Finance, Business, IT, Supply Chain, etc.

Key Relationships:

  • NAM Finance, global Finance, GBS, local & global Tax and IT teams, NAM business, NAM FLT, local Procurement, SPOMA, External auditors & consultants, Real Estate, etc.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical & communication skills.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Strong SAP & GRAPE skills

  • Must be able to develop teams and balance multiple priorities

  • Strong IFRS knowledge. Strong internal GPM (in particular GFM knowledge preferred)

Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

  • Master's preferred

  • CPA

  • 10+ years experience in accounting
